Last week I shared a slimline card made with the adorable Kittens & Mittens stamp set. Well, I couldn’t stay away from it – so here’s more Kittens & Mittens for your Tuesday! This set from Colorado Craft Company features the whimsical artwork of Anita Jeram. If you missed the first card, you can see it in this post, HERE.
IF SNOWFLAKES WERE KISSES…
These kittens are just too cute, with their mitten-covered paws, and winter boots!
Last week, I coloured the image with alcohol markers and did an ink blended background. Today’s card features watercolour, with Zig Markers and watercolour paper.
CARD DETAILS
Start with a piece of watercolour paper, set up with the kitten trio image, in your stamp platform. Ink up the stamp with Nocturne ink, and stamp firmly. Repeat the inking & stamping, to ensure full coverage. Now cover the stamping with clear embossing powder, and set with a heat tool. I did this to make extra certain that the ink wouldn’t smudge or run, as I did the watercolour.
Choose your colours for the kittens & their accessories. Apply the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Marker directly to the image, and then use a water brush to blend the colour out. This helps create shading and depth. After painting the cats, stamp the snowflakes across the top of the paper in Versamark ink. You’ll have to shift your paper, as the snowflake stamp isn’t as long as the paper. Next, cover the stamping with white embossing powder, and heat set.
Create the sky by wetting the paper with your water brush, then applying the marker to the paper. Use your water brush to blend out the ink. Create the ground and shadows the same way, with a gray marker for shadows and a bit of light blue for the snow. Once that is dry, stamp the sentiments in Nocturne ink, cover with clear embossing powder, and heat set.
Aren’t they just adorable!? I got this set too late for making my Christmas cards, but I think I’ll be using it next year!
