Movember Madness Challenge

Hello stamping friend! Are you familiar with the term ‘Movember’? It was created to help bring awareness to men’s health issues during the month of November. The ‘N’ was changed to ‘M’, for mustache!  If you’d like to find out more about this, check out THIS PAGE.  Today’s card is for the Movember Madness challenge, held by Scrap ‘n Stamp on their Facebook page. The challenge is to create a card that is masculine, or features mustaches (or moustaches, if you prefer!).  I had to dig deep for this one!

I brought out a couple of retired Stampin’ Up! stamp sets – Guy Greetings and Suite Sentiments, along with an old Hero Arts set called, appropriately, Mustache!

Can you see the ‘handlebar mustache’ on the strong man?! Too bad it’s not a larger image.

Start with a panel of Whisper White cardstock. Attach the mustache stamps to your Stamparatus stamping plate (after getting the placement right). Cover the images with Versamark ink, and stamp. Next, reink the stamps with Versamark, and move the stamping platform down 1 hinge, then stamp again.  Repeat until your panel is covered with images. Next, cover the stamped images with Clear Embossing Powder, and set with a Heat Tool.

To colour the background, use a Sponge Brayer with Soft Seafoam, Lemon Lime Twist and Pool Party ink pads. Apply the inks on the diagonal, from left to right, top to bottom.

This photo, below, shows a close up of the brayered background.

On a separate piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the strong man image from Guy Greetings (retired), in Memento black ink, with your Stamparatus. Clean off the stamp with your Simply Shammy, then stamp again in Versamark ink. Cover with Clear Embossing Powder, and set with Heat Tool. Colour in the pants with the Bermuda Bay Combo Pack Blends, the shoes with Crumb Cake Blends, and skin with the Ivory Blends. Hand cut the image with Paper Snips.

Stamp the sentiment from Suite Sayings (retired) in Bermuda Bay ink onto a piece of white cardstock. Use the Big Shot with the (retired) Tags & Labels Framelits to die cut the sentiment, plus one larger size in Bermuda Bay cardstock.

Attach the sentiment and image to the brayered panel, with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Next, attach this panel to a panel of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, then those to a card base of Bermuda Bay cardstock, all with Dimensionals.

I think this is a fun card, and can be given to any guy in your life, for just about any occasion!

This is a fun video, shared by Jimmy Fallon of the Tonight Show, and his #sharpiechallenge for Movember.  Have a watch!

If you’re on FB, and would like to enter this challenge, just search ‘Scrap ‘n Stamp Challenge Page’ – you have to ask to join, but they’re a wonderful, friendly group!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
