Sadly, I lost my best (furry) friend a few years ago. Our black Lab Shadow, lived up to his name – he loved to be with his people! This stamp from Impression Obsession is called My Best Friend, and I knew I had to have it. Though I didn’t colour the dog black this time, it does remind me of Shadow.
MY BEST FRIEND
The name of this stamp also reminds me of an old TV show, called The Courtship of Eddie’s Father. Do you remember it, or am I just aging myself?! The title song was called Best Friend, and the opening line was “people let me tell you ’bout my best friend”. Okay, now I’m really getting nostalgic! Anyway, today’s card also uses an alcohol ink scenic background that I created a while back. You can read about it in THIS POST.
I didn’t add a sentiment; it can be added on a separate strip, later if needed.
CARD DETAILS
On a piece of white cardstock, stamp the image in Tuxedo Black ink. Choose your favourite colouring medium; I used my alcohol markers. The Copic markers I chose are R29 Lipstick Red, E89 Pcan, E29 Burnt Umber, G09 Veronese Green and B23 Phthalo Blue. I also chose EB1 Sand and EB2 Natural Brown Spectrum Noir Ilustrator, and Citrus SN Tri-Blend. When finished colouring, use a stitched square die to die cut the image. Attach it to the background panel with foam tape or squares.
Next, attach the card front to a dark blue card base. Add a sentiment separately, if you wish.
I did add a few highlights with a white gel pen, to the dog and girl’s sweater.
SUPPLIES
This would be a nice card, I think, to let someone know that you’re thinking of them. You could write a nice note on the inside. If you’d like to see this image in watercolour, you can check out THIS POST.

Sadly, I remember The Courtship Of Eddie’s Father. It was a great show! You are so good with those alcohol inks. You should teach a class!
No need to be sad about remembering the show, Susan! We’re not getting older – we’re becoming classic! 😉 (and it was a great show) Thanks so much for your kind comment, my friend!
Deb, I just finished having a good cry remembering my little boy, my beagle named Monster. Email: Mari and Monster D(elgado). He was my love and then I see your beautiful card with the little girl and her dog. It was meant to be. 🐕🐶😇 Was that tv show a Canadian show? It sounds like an iconic and sweet memory. I ‘m sorry I didn’t get to watch it. By the way, you are really rockin ‘ those alcohol inks, Deb. Your card looks fabulous!
