MY BEST FRIEND
Sometimes, we all need a someone to lean on, and that someone doesn’t have to be ‘human’. There’s a reason why dogs are called ‘man’s best friend’; they’re always there for you. This stamp set by Impression Obsession is called My Best Friend, and it’s a favourite of mine. I think this card would be great for anyone going through anything; letting them know you’re there for them, and words aren’t necessary.
I’M HERE FOR YOU
There’s nothing fancy about today’s card! It’s stamped on watercolour paper, and coloured with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a water brush.
The sentiment is from the Honeybee Stamps set called Blah Blah Blah. I thought this particular sentiment is perfect for this image.
CARD DETAILS
On a panel of watercolour cardstock, stamp the image in Versafine Clair Nocturne ink. Cover with clear embossing powder, and heat set. I did this because I didn’t want the ink running into my water colouring. I added ink from my Zig markers, and then blended it with a water brush. It takes a bit more time that simply covering the entire area, but you achieve more depth and shadows by blending with the water brush.
Once you’re finished with the images, wet the top portion of the paper with water. Scribble some blue marker onto a clear block, or your craft mat, and pick up up with the water brush. Now apply it to the paper, to create the blue sky. After applying the light blue, I mixed in a little bit of darker blue.
Next, repeat the same process with 2 shades of green, for the grass. Attach your finished panel to a panel of black cardstock. I used foam tape, as the watercolour paper did warp a little bit, and I wanted it to be completely flat when layering it.
Stamp the sentiment from the Blah Blah Blah stamp at the bottom of the white card base, in the Versafine Nocturne ink. Finally, attach your front panels to the card front, above the sentiment, with more foam tape, or squares.
There’s no die cutting on this card, but the shading created by the ink blending does create some depth. I coloured this dog black, in memory of my Lab Shadow, and gave him a red collar, like Shadow wore.

Love that image, Deborah! It reminds me of our Hoss. (I still miss that big guy!) Beautiful coloring, too!
Thanks so much, Buffy! Yes, our dogs are in our lives for too short a time, aren’t they? I’m glad that you like this image, too.
