Woohoo!!  Boy, did we celebrate the kick off of another new Stampin’ Up! catalogue year! 🙂

In the picture above, you can see the ‘celebrate’ banner that I made using the retiring (hurry!! you can still get them today & tomorrow!!) Chalkboard Banner Kit.

I had a couple of displays set up; here’s a picture of one display, showing off the new In Colours- Cucumber Crush, Delightful Dijon, Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe and Watermelon Wonder – and card samples with some of the new sets:

Another display showed some card samples using existing and retiring sets, and shows off some Paper Pumpkin kits – did you know that if you join before June 10th, you can get 50% OFF your first 2 months?!!

Here’s some close-up pictures of cards that I haven’t posted yet using some of the new sets:

One of my team members, Debbie P. let me borrow her new Build a Birthday stamp set and the Cherry on Top Washi Tape – you can see it in the 2nd photo on the left hand side; it was such fun to work with!  Then picture below it also uses the Build a Birthday stamp set, but this time I ‘built’ the cake using the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper!  The tag below it uses just the Build a Birthday stamp set – I made candles using the 3 image stamps that can also be used to build the cake; I just stood them up to use them as candles!  This is an awesome set that you’ll get tons of use from for all your birthday celebrations!

You can also see in this picture, to the right, that I grouped the new In Colours with similar colours – it’s always nice to see how they look next to existing colours.  Below that, are the comparisons that I used last year, when those new colours were introduced.

In the photo above, I used the Work of Art stamp set to stamp some colour groupings that work well together with the new In Colours.  If you are ever struggling with what colours work well together, just have a look in the catalogue at the Designer Series Papers (or on the back of your DSP packages); all of the colours in each DSP pack are listed – and you can coordinate the rest of your card by choosing colours from those listed!  Stampin’ Up! makes it so easy that way to coordinate your colours  for gorgeous, professional looking projects!

Everyone loved the bags made using the new Gift Bag Punch Board – yippee!  a new punch board added to our family!! 🙂  They’re in the very 1st picture I posted at the top of the page, plus I’ll post some more close-up’s later, in another post and I’ll do a quick video showing how to use the punch board.  I just love how you can make them in Small, Medium or Large sizes (Small = 2 1/2″ base; Medium = 3″ base; Large = 3 1/2″ base) and you can make each size any height you want!

Once everyone had finished looking at all the samples & checking out the new cards & sets, I introduced the new catalogue and had everyone play a ‘Scavenger Hunt’ – looking for the answers in the catalogue to questions I had given them about items in the catalogue.  No one had a perfect score of 15, but Lynn & Chantal both got 14 out of 15!  Everyone received a prize for the hard work 🙂

After taking a break for some refreshments (I forgot to take pictures, but there was coffee, punch, veggie platter, mini cupcakes, a spinach dip with sourdough bread, a cheese dip with crackers and a decadent caramel bar) we then headed to the craft table for a couple of Make & Takes.

This was the first card we made, using the Sprinkles of Life stamp set and coordinating Tree Builder Punch:

This was a great card to introduce how fun it is using the punch for the ice cream, and all the fun colours and DSP!  We stamped the cone in Crumb Cake onto a Whisper White cardstock, then added the individually stamped & punched ice cream scoops (stamped in Watermelon Wonder, Pool Party and Delightful Dijon) over a panel of the Cherry on Top DSP; both the DSP and cardstock were punched at one end using the new Triple Banner Punch for perfect banner tails!  The card base is the new Cucumber Crush cardstock, with the sentiment stamped in Memento Black ink.  Of course no ice cream is complete without sprinkles, so we stamped them all around the cone in the matching inks.

Here are the ladies having fun with their stamping!

The 2nd Make & Take card involved using the Aqua Painters – a first for many of them!  Such fun to learn new techniques!

m&t Best Thoughts

We stamped the flower image from the hostess set Best Thoughts onto Whisper White cardstock using Stazon Black ink, then coloured them in using the Aqua Painters and ink from the lids of the Lost Lagoon and Cucumber Crush ink pads.  After colouring we layered the stamped image on top of  a piece of DSP from the retiring Sweet Dreams set, then wrapped a piece of Hello Honey 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around both layers.  Both panels were then off-set on the Lost Lagoon cardstock base.  I left my card without a sentiment because I couldn’t decide on which one to use, but some people did choose one to add.

Here are  pictures of some of the ladies with their complete cards (some people were camera shy! and that’s okay too!).

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
