Welcome to a new week, my friend! I hope that your weekend was good. Did you have time to play with your crafts? I was able to play with a new Colorado Craft Company stamp, called Birthday Cake. I think that we’d all like to see a huge piece of cake like this for our special occasions! Have a look.
BIRTHDAY CAKE
This is actually my first Colorado Craft Company stamp. They’re new in the Scrap ‘N Stamp store, and I’m a Design Team member for Scrap ‘N Stamp. So – I just had to try one out! I love the HUGE image sizes; they’re great for colouring.
For the card above, I stamped part of the image off of the card front. So what you’re seeing isn’t the whole image stamp! Now that’s a lotta cake!
CARD DETAILS
Set your white cardstock in a portrait orientation. Stamp the cake image off the right side of the panel, in Memento ink. This type of ink is safe to use when colouring with alcohol markers, which is what I chose. The cake is coloured to look like a white/vanilla cake. Colour the cake layers with a Spectrum Noir Illustrator marker in Cream. Go over the colouring at the bottom of each cake layer several time, making it darker. For the icing layers, use the Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend marker Bright Pink. To make the bits on top of the cake look like chocolate, use the Natural Brown Illustrator marker.
Stamp the sentiment, also from the Birthday Cake stamp set, in Versamark ink in the top left corner. Cover it with gold embossing powder, and heat set. Create a card base of dark pink cardstock, and layer a piece of white and shiny gold patterned paper, offset to the left. Attach the image panel with fun foam or foam tape, offset to the right side.
HAVE FUN WITH THE INSIDE
I always add a white panel inside my cards, for stamping and writing a message. I couldn’t resist using the sentiment that coordinates with the one used on the front.

What a great stamp set. I love that giant cake and your colors really make it pop. I will have to check out this company. I have never heard of it before.
Glad you like the cake, Susan! You’ll love the huge images in the Colorado Craft Company stamps – great selection, too.
What a fun card! (Can you celebrate Monday? ‘Cause now I want cake.) That is a huge slice, but I’ll take the full slice, please. I do love how you only used part of it. It makes it more tempting!!
I think Monday is the perfect excuse to celebrate, Buffy! Seriously – by the time I finished the card & wrote the post, I really wanted a piece of cake! LOL I’m glad you like this one – more to come!
