New F.I.P. – Fun In Progress!

My calendar tells me that it’s Wednesday, but my brain is confused! It always happens to me when we’ve had a long weekend; does it happen to you, too? Usually I would share a completed project with your, or a W.I.P. – work in progress. Today is something different – an F.I.P. – Fun In Progress! This is only the 2nd time that I’ve used waterslide decals in any of my projects. I like them because they’re different, very versatile, and I can add an image to a piece that I normally wouldn’t be able to do myself.

BOTTOM’S UP!

I decided to make another coordinating tray and coasters, but with a twist. The twist being using the waterslide decals, and making it in summer colours.  I’ve found a great supplier here in Canada for the decals – I just love it when I can support another Canadian, especially when they’re a small business owner too! I had a browse through her huge catalogue of waterslides, and decided on these fun, summery-looking drinks.

Aren’t these awesome! I just love the colours, and fun drinks.  I chose the ‘dark’ waterslides, meaning that they are to be used on a dark background. So first I created the tray, and added the fun crystal handles so they’ll cure with the resin.  Then I decided that I wanted to coasters to be a bit lighter, so I left off the blue/black middle.  Once the tray and coasters had cured, I applied the waterslides.

So here’s my F.I.P. – Fun In Progress! I’ve just applied the slides, and am waiting for them to dry. I’m always cautious, and leave them for 24 hours so that any moisture evaporates, in case I missed some. Next, I’ll add a layer of clear resin on top, so that they images are sealed, and safe!

I think this set is perfect for any summer backyard get together, or fun gathering with friends!
