Happy Monday, my friend! I hope that you had a good weekend, and are looking forward to a creative week. In that spirit, I have some new fun things to share with you! Sales, a challenge, and a free class! How’s that for a lot of fun?!
Let’s start with jump-starting your creative juices! Each month, Doodlewash hosts a daily challenge, meant simply to get the ideas flowing. They post a list of daily word prompts, for you to create a project and then share on social media. Be sure to use the hashtag #doodlewashFebruary2021 wherever you post, so that your project will be seen. Here’s the list of prompts for February, which you can also find HERE on the Doodlewash site.
Here’s the guidelines for entering your projects, taken from the Doodlewash site:
For February 2021, let’s celebrate our lovely world through drawings and watercolor paintings! This Doodlewash art challenge is open to anyone who wants to participate with just watercolor painting, just drawing (ink, colored pencils, crayons, etc.!), or a lovely mix of both!* Simply add the hashtag #doodlewashFebruary2021 when you post on all of your social networks, and if you also use lovely watercolor add the #WorldWatercolorGroup hashtag as well so we can find you and link to your lovely watercolors!
*NOTE: World Watercolor Group on Facebook and the associated hashtag is still only for works that contain watercolor, of course, so be sure to join us here in Doodlewash Club to post your drawings! Simply log in to Doodlewash.com to post. It’s free!
Scrap ‘N Stamp also hosts a daily challenge with word prompts, on their Facebook challenge page HERE. There, you’ll find the list of daily word prompts (also below). Create your project with stamps, inks, paper & embellishments, and then share your creation with the hashtag #snschallenge. Post to the challenge page, as well as your other social media pages! At the end of each month, one participant is randomly chosen as WINNER of a $50 GIFT CARD to shop at Scrap ‘N Stamp!
There’s still time to participate in the January challenge – and you can include days that have already passed, as well as work through the end of the month! Here’s the list of January prompts – have fun!
If you’ve always wanted to try watercolour painting, or just refresh your skills, the talented Angela Fehr is offering a FREE CLASS, sponsored by Doodlewash! It’s not often that you get this kind of offer.
In three, free one hour online sessions, you’ll learn:
- the nature of watercolor – how it works and why
- how even “non-creative” people can make amazing art
- what supplies to use and how to identify the “good stuff” in the art supply store
- which rules to follow in art (and which ones to break!)
- the basic techniques; how to create washes, prevent blooms, and the role control plays in watercolor
- common trouble spots and how to prevent them
- and we’ll paint an entire painting, start to finish!
The workshop runs January 28th, 29th and 30th – CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP! I’ve already signed up – hopefully I’ll see you there!

NEW LAVINIA STAMPS MASKS
If you’re like me and love all things Lavinia, check out the new masks, brand new at Joggles!
Part of the beauty of creating scenes and backgrounds with Lavinia Stamps images are the moons, hills and mountains. These new masks take the hassle out of creating your own masks, tearing the scrap paper ‘just right’ or figuring out what size of moon/sun you need. CLICK HERE to shop at Joggles for these, and all of the Lavinia stencils/masks. (By the way – they’re currently at 15% off!)
Above all else, have fun! I hope that I’ve given you a good start to your week. Sign up to learn something new, use challenge prompts to work with what you have, and shop for something new!
