ONE WILD RIDE
Welcome to the latest sketch challenge with the Paper Craft Crew! This card is doing ‘double duty’ for me; not only is it for the sketch challenge, but it’s also the card I’m sending to my brother-in-law for his birthday! It’s probably already there by now, but he & my sister are away on a Mediterranean cruise, to celebrate both their birthdays (both in September) as well as their 35th Anniversary! I know they’ll be having a great time (and yes, I wish I was on that cruise, too!)
First, let’s have a look at the sketch that you’ll be working with.
This is a fun one, with lots of room for creativity! I”m looking forward to seeing what you create; the last few challenges have had amazing submissions.
ENJOY THE RIDE
My brother -in-law, Glenn, loves motorcycles, and has had a few in his life. He does still have one, and rides regularly. He goes on road trips with his friends, where they’ll drive for several days, or even a week or more to certain destinations. They live in Alberta, so Glenn & his friends will often ride down into Montana. Apparently there’s great riding to be done there 🙂
I used the retired stamp set called One Wild Ride; it also has a wonderful motorcycle image, which I’ve used for Glenn’s cards in the past. Because of Glenn’s love for motorcycles, I’m sure I’ll be keeping this stamp set for a long time!
CARD FRONT DETAILS
Although the photo makes it look like Crumb Cake, I actually used Gray Granite cardstock, along with Blueberry Bushel. Start with some Whisper White cardstock. First ink up the sentiment badge from the One Wild Ride stamp set in Versamark ink, them immediately in Blueberry Bushel ink. Stamp onto the white cardstock, then cover with Clear Embossing Powder. Shake off any excess powder, then set with the Heat Tool. Repeat the same steps with the sentiment. Use your Paper Snips to cut the sentiment badge, and use your Stampin’ Trimmer to cut the sentiment into 2 pieces.
On the smaller panel of Gray Granite cardstock, stamp the tire tracks from the One Wild Ride set in Tuxedo Black Memento ink horizontally, then add the small ‘dirt marks’ stamp. Attach the sentiment badge with Stampin’ Dimensionals, then the 2 sentiment strips to the left of the badge, with more Dimensionals.
Next, layer the front panel onto a panel of Blueberry Bushel cardstock that is 1/4″ larger, with Dimensionals. On a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel of Gray Granite , stamp the tire tracks again to the left of where the top panel will be. Then, attach your image panel with Dimensionals. Finally, add this onto your card base of Blueberry Bushel cardstock. To finish off the card front & keep it close to the sketch layout, I added 3 retired Black Rhinestones above the sentiment badge shape.
I forgot to take a picture of the inside, but I attached my usual panel of Whisper White, and stamped a birthday wish in Blueberry Bushel ink.
