Orange, Black and Green - Not Just for Hallowe'en!

ORANGE, PURPLE and GREEN – NOT JUST FOR HALLOWE’EN!

I’ve joined a colour challenge on Facebook, where we’re to use the colours orange, purple and green – and not just for Hallowe’en! This is the 2nd card I’ve made to enter; it uses an ‘old but a goodie’ Stampin’ Up! stamp set, called Happy Scenes.  This stamp set has been retired for a couple of years, but I love using it because it has images that can be used for spring, fall, winter and Hallowe’en. I chose to use the image for fall!

HAPPY SCENES

Once I had decided on the stamp set, the rest all fell into place. The colours I chose to use are all Stampin’ Up!; Highland Heather, Grapefruit Grove and Old Olive.

CARD FRONT DETAILS

First, I cut a panel of Highland Heather cardstock, and die cut the leaf with the Big Shot and my retired Leaflets Framelits. I used these because I liked the size & shape of the leaf I used. If you don’t have these ones, you could use either the Tropical Thinlits or the Seasonal Layers Thinlits – they both have large leaf dies, as well.

After die cutting, I sponged the edges of the opening with a Sponge Dauber and Highland Heather ink. Next, I ran it through the Big Shot again, this time with the Woodland Embossing Folder.

To create the image, I stamped the fall image from the Happy Scenes stamp set onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, in Memento black ink. I used this ink, as I planned to colour the image with my Stampin’ Blends Markers. Colour the leaves with Cherry Cobbler and Pumpkin Pie Light Blends, the grass with Old Olive Light Blends, and the pumpkins with – yes, you guessed it! – the Pumpkin Pie Combo Pack Blends (light & dark).

Now, attach the die cut panel over the stamped image, with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Make sure that your lovely scene is visible through the die cut opening. Tie a length of Linen Thread around the left side of the card, tying it off into a bow. Add more dimensionals to the back, and attach the front panel to your Grapefruit Grove cardstock base.

For the sentiment, I used the words from the retired Merry Cafe stamp set. I masked off the bottom portion of the sentiment (the rest of it says ‘it’s pumpkin spice latte season’) and stamped onto a length of White cardstock in Grapefruit Grove ink. Attach the sentiment with more Dimensionals, just below the Linen Thread bow.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

    1. Thanks, Susan! I’m glad I hung onto both this stamp set and these dies 🙂 (I’m not a hoarder – I’m a clever uhmmm…saver!)

    1. Glad you like this card, Buffy! I wish fall would always be crisp & clear; too bad it rains so much (at least here on the ‘wet’ coast)

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
