Hello again, stamping friends! Well, isn’t this unusual – two posts from me in 1 day! 🙂
**I’m just editing this post, as a good friend just brought to my attention that I inadvertently left off the “O” in “hello”! Please accept my apologies if I offended anyone! Really, I was in a good mood when I made this post! **
I realized that today was the deadline for entering the Paper Craft Crew Challenges – PCCCS #129 – this is another card sketch. As I was a top 3 pick last time I entered, I feel like I should enter again (well, I had planned entering again, whether I was a top pick or not!).
This challenge also gives me a chance to use a new stamp set that I got FOR FREE on my last order – any order of $60 means you get to choose 1 FREE item from the Sale-a-bration brochure. As soon as I saw this stamp set, I fell in love, and knew I had to get it 🙂
First – here’s the card sketch, designed by the fabulous Paper Craft Crew:
Here is the card that I made, using the A Happy Thing stamp set from Sale-a-bration:
The card base is in gorgeous Pacific Point card stock, and the designer paper strip is from the lovely Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper. I stamped the bird in Memento Black ink, and coloured it using the Daffodil Delight Blendabilities markers, and Pacific Point classic ink and a blender pen (we’ve been debating what type of bird it is; we’ve pretty much decided it’s in the Kingfisher family – but artistic licence means we can colour it however we like!). The branch is coloured with the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker, and the berries with the Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities marker (mid tone).
I stamped the sentiment in Pacific Point onto Whisper White card stock; I cut both banner pieces out using the Banners Framelits Dies. The button is from the FREE Sale-a-bration Best Year Ever Accessory Pack, tied with Gold Baker’s Twine. I coloured 3 Basic Pearl Rhinestones with the Daffodil Delight Blendabilites marker (mid-tone) to complete the card.
I hope that you’ll head over to the Paper Craft Crew Challenges page; the samples created by the design team are terrific, and you can also check out the rest of the challenge submissions.
Voting starts later tonight – if you like my card, I hope you’ll give me your vote! Of course, always vote for the card you like best – you get 3 votes 🙂
Thanks so much for coming back & seeing my challenge card – see you again tomorrow!
Until then – happy stamping!
Beautiful coloring, Deb! I like your card.
Thank you, Priscilla! I appreciate your comment – what a great way to start my day 🙂
Beautiful card Deborah, your kookaburra is so colourful. Such a bright cheery card. Thanks for joining us this week at the Paper Craft Crew challenge. Carolyn xx
Thank you for visiting, and taking the time to leave a comment, Carolyn! I really appreciate it! I thought the bird was a kookaburra as well 😉
Hi Deb, love your card. It’s a kookaburra, by the way. 🙂 I had the song in my head the whole time I made a card using the little guy. The colours you’ve used really pop, especially that strip of floral DSP. Love that you’ve coloured the pearls yellow—nice touch. Thanks so much for joining us at the Paper Craft Crew Challenge this week.
So glad you like my card, Heidi! I had thought that the bird was a Kookaburra, but after many back-and-forths on Stampin’ Connection, I decided to go with ‘kingfisher family’ – that seemed to be the middle ground! 😉
Deborah, I love your card and especially the coloring on the bird. I’ve been intimidated with coloring the bird and you rocked it! Thanks for playing along with the Paper Craft Crew and hope to see more of your creations.
Thank you for your lovely comment,Pam! I was a bit intimidated about colouring the bird too – just took a big breath and went for it! 🙂 I’m really enjoying the challenges from the Paper Craft Crew – thanks so much for being on the design team & inspiring us!
Deb I love your colouring on the bird. You are a blendies artist!
