Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge #201

Wow – can you believe we just celebrate our 200th challenge last week?!  I  hope you enjoyed seeing all of the fabulous projects from the Design Team, and that  you entered to win all the Blog Candy prizes you could 🙂  A big congratulations to everyone who entered our challenge – you all rock! – and to those who won.  We couldn’t keep doing this without all of you!

So here we are – onto challenge #201, and it’s another great sketch – plus you have 2 WEEKS for this challenge, instead of the usual 1 week:

So many possibilities with this sketch – I can’t wait to see what you create!  In the meantime – here’s my card:

I just had to find a way to use the Serene Scenery DSP Pack again – especially this one with the Bokeh effect!  (so much quicker than creating the background & effect by myself 😉 )

I started with a cardstock base of Old Olive, then layered it with a panel of Delightful Dijon that I had embossed using the Big Shot and the Lovely Lace Embossing Folder.

To create the focal panel, I trimmed a piece of the Serene Scenery DSP to 4″ x 3″, and added a strip of the reverse side of this design across the top, sliding in a little banner of Old Olive cardstock created using the retired mini banner punch.  I then wrapped some retired Old Olive Baker’s Twine around the top of the card several times, and attached it in the back.

The sentiment is from a photopolymer set called Better Than Email.  Before inking it with Memento Black ink, I masked off the ‘Stampin’ Up!’ at the bottom of the stamp with some old washi tape; after inking I removed the washi tape, then stamped the sentiment directly onto the DSP.

To create the butterfly, I stamped the image from Watercolour Wings set in Tip Top Taupe, Old Olive and Delightful Dijon inks, two times, then die cut each one using the Butterflies Thinlits Dies.  Using the Precision Plate with the Big Shot helped me get nice clean cuts, and it was easy to remove all the little bits using the Die Brush.    I snipped each of the butterflies in half, and joined the two sets of wings from the right side of the butterflies, so that it looked like the butterfly is in mid-flap of the wings.

Here’s a close up of the butterfly, so you can see what I mean:

This way, by gluing the two stamped sides of the butterfly together, you don’t see a plain white die cut 🙂  As the sentiment says – it’s in the details!
