It’s Wednesday – we’re half way through the week! I’ve been dragging a bit this week, so I went in search of some inspiration. I decided to play along with the Paper Players Turn Up the Heat challenge – it sounded like fun!
PP480 THEME CHALLENGE
Challenges are always a great way to go, if you’re stumped for inspiration. With a theme, it also give you a great starting point. And I just love heat embossing, so this was a good fit for me today.
I chose to use my new Studio Katia Peony Trimmings stamp set again for my card. This time, I used both large peony images, stamped together on the front panel.
This card came together easily, using the heat embossing and then ink blending.
First, set up your white cardstock panel in your MISTI or other stamp platform. Align the two large peony stamps, and then cover them with Versamark ink. Stamp onto the cardstock, pressing firmly. Next, remove the panel from the MISTI, and cover with gold embossing powder. Set the powder with a heat tool.
Choose your colours to blend onto the panel. I chose Ranger Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Dusty Concord. Apply the inks one at a time on a diagonal, with a blending brush. Next, stamp the sentiment also from the Peony Trimmings set, onto light pink cardstock with Versamark ink. Cover with the gold embossing powder, and heat set. Use the sentiment strip dies in the Peony Trimmings die set to die cut the sentiment.
Create a card base from dark pink cardstock. Glue a panel of gold cardstock to the front. Next, attach your embossed panel to the front, using fun foam or foam tape. Attach the sentiment across the bottom with foam tape. Finish off the card front by adding some gold sequins and pink pearls.
The gold heat embossing is so pretty, and the ink blending means you have a beautiful card, in no time! If you like heat embossing, you should join the Paper Players Turn Up the Heat challenge too – the more the merrier!
