Welcome to Monday, my stamping friend! I hope that you enjoyed your weekend. I spent quite a bit of time at my crafting table (a.k.a. dining room table). Today’s card is one I made for the Penny Black Saturday challenge. I think it’s called that because it posts on the first Saturday of a new month, and runs the entire month. For June, the challenge is ‘anything goes’, or ‘partial stamping’. I decided to go with the ‘partial stamping’, because I like a real challenge!
PARTIAL STAMPING
The definition of ‘partial stamping’ for the purpose of this challenge is” Either by inking only part of your stamp, or by stamping off the edge of your project”. Using the Perfect Pairing stamp set, I stamped off the edge of my paper. But then in a twist, I flipped the image and did another stamping off the other edge!
It was lovely to just sit and colour, once I had the images stamped.
HOW TO FLIP THE IMAGE
The image that I used from the Perfect Pairing stamp set actually stops at the orange flower you see in the middle. I stamped the image on the left side first,in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, which is how the image normally aligns. Next, take a piece of acetate, and stamp the image again in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto the acetate. Now, flip the acetate over, and place it ink side down onto the panel, lining up the images with the ones you’ve already stamped. Hold the acetate in place, and use your fingers to firmly rub over the back of the acetate. Because the acetate is non-porous, the rubbing transfers the ink to the porous cardstock! Once you’ve thoroughly rubbed the image, lift the acetate, and voila – you now have a reverse image of your stamp. This technique is also called the ‘reflection’ technique. It’s perfect for creating reflections in water.
Once you’ve stamped your images, you can relax and start colouring. The Memento ink is alcohol marker friendly; that’s what I used for colouring. I used my Stampin’ Blends markers from my stash. I’ve order some of the new Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend Markers – I can’t wait until they come in!
CARD FRONT DETAILS
Once you’ve finished colouring the images, add some shadows with a light gray marker or pencil. This helps give your image some depth. Use a Life Changing Blender Brush and some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and blend a light blue background above the flowers.
Finally, stamp the sentiment from the Perfect Pairing stamp set in Versafine Clair – Nocturne ink in the middle of the panel. Cover it with clear embossing powder, and set with a heat tool.
To tie in the dark red that I used in some of the leaves, I attached the front panel to a cardstock panel of the same colour, with foam tape. Then I attached it to a card base of bright yellow.
FUN, EASY & VERY MAIL-ABLE!
With just the one extra layer, this card is perfect for the post office! No extra postage needed. I think that the colouring is what adds the ‘wow’ factor to this card.

Beautiful card, Deborah! I love how the flowers frame the sentiment.
Thank you, Buffy! I had fun colouring the flowers, and adding the ‘unexpected’ colours of cherry cobbler and blue!
