PCC262 Tic Tac Toe Challenge

Welcome stamping friend to this week’s challenge with the Paper Craft Crew! This week is a fun tic-tac-toe challenge to get your creative juices flowing 🙂

PCC262 Tic Tac Toe Challenge

With this challenge, all you have to do is choose one line on the board – horizontal, vertical or diagonal – and use each of the elements in the boxes when creating your project. Then link up for the challenge to be entered!

I chose the middle vertical column; Baker’s Twine, Fall and Punch/Die Cut for the elements in my card.

The beautiful colours of fall make it one of my favourite seasons of the year! Here in Western Canada we do get 4 distinct seasons (although rain features heavily in all of them, usually!).

In creating my card, I used a few different stamp sets – Colorful Seasons, Timeless Textures and September’s Paper Pumpkin. I also used the Baker’s Twine, and sentiment from the September Paper Pumpkin kit. I love that the stamp sets can be reused whenever you want, and there’s always left over embellishments in the kits to use for other projects 🙂

The card base is Cajun Craze cardstock measuring 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored and folded at 4 1/4″.  The next layer is a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel of Garden Green cardstock.

For my image panel, I cut a piece of Watercolour Paper to 3 3/4″ x 5″.  To create the multi colours for the leaves, I used the Baby Wipe technique. On a folded baby wipe, I dropped ink from Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler and Daffodil Delight Ink Refills. Then I pressed the solid leaf image from the Colorful Seasons stamp set onto the baby wipe, then stamped onto the Watercolour Paper panel.  I re-inked the stamp with the baby wipe each time stamped; I stamped 3 leaves onto the panel, plus 2 extra leaves on a separate piece of Watercolour Paper.  Those extra leaves I die cut with the Big Shot and the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies.  Creating the detailed leaf was easy, using Gold Foil Paper and the detailed leaf thinlit from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies.

Cajun Craze ink and the Timeless Textures stamp set are  used for the ‘splotches’ above and below the leaves.  The frame is created from Garden Green cardstock, the Stitched Shapes Framelits, Layering Squares Framelits and the Big Shot.

The frame is attached to the front panel with Foam Adhesive Strips. I attached the detailed gold foil leaf to the solid leaf with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, then attached it with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment is from the September Paper Pumpkin kit, stamped in Cajun Craze ink. After attaching the stamped panel to the Garden Green panel, the Baker’s Twine, which is white with copper, is wrapped 3 times around the right side of the panel. Then, it is all attached to the card base, with more Dimensionals.

I really like the layers on this card, and the beautiful warm colours!

Did you notice that there’s one of the die cut leaves missing? Not for long! I haven’t decided yet what sentiment to put on the inside of the card, but I did know what I wanted to do with that extra leaf! It adds a nice touch to the inside of the card.

The above picture gives you another look at all of the layers, and the die cut leaf on the inside of the card.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

  1. This card is absolutely gorgeous, Deborah. I love how you placed the leaf inside and outside of the frame to give it more dimension. Beautiful!

    1. Thank you for such a kind comment, Jackie! I do love fall colours, and it was fun using the baby wipe technique again 🙂

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
