PCC274 Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge

Hello there, stamping friend! It’s the new year, a new week – and a new challenge!

This week the Paper Craft Crew has a sketch challenge for you, and I can’t wait to see what you design!

PCC274 PAPER CRAFT CREW SKETCH CHALLENGE

This fun challenge has lots of elements to play with! You get to choose whichever stamp set and colours you want to use. All you have to do is stay within the basic sketch when creating your project. You can keep the sketch orientation as it is, or you can flip it sideways, backwards, or upside down!

For my project, I decided to use a new FREE set from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue called Beautiful Peacock.

BEAUTIFUL PEACOCK

Don’t you love this beautiful bird, showing off his plumage?

DETAILS

AS you can see, I kept with only 2 colours for my card. I wanted to keep the focus on the shape of the peacock, and his feathers.

On a 3 3/4″ x 5″ panel of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the body of the bird in Bermuda Bay ink. Next stamp the tail feathers in Lemon Lime Twist ink. With these photopolymer stamps, it’s easy to line up the tail feathers right behind the bird. Again with Bermuda Bay ink, stamp the 2 different long feathers in Bermuda Bay ink, extending behind and above the tail.  For the feathers on the left side, I used the Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Write Marker to ink only part of the long tail feathers to add behind the left side.

After stamping, attach the image panel onto a panel of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock that measures 4″ x 5 1/4″, with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Add that to a Bermuda Bay cardstock base, again with Dimensionals.

To finish off the front, add a 2017-2019 In Colour Bitty Bow in Lemon Lime Twist to the bottom left of the bird. Next, add some silver Metallic Enamel Shapes – circles – to the bow, and to the plumage.

Of course you need to add a panel to the inside. Since there’s no sentiment on the outside of the card, I decided to combine the 2 sentiments in this stamp set and put them on the inside.

The first sentiment is stamped in Bermuda Bay ink; the second in Lemon Lime Twist ink. To add a bit extra inside, I stamped the long tail feathers down the right hand side in Lemon Lime Twist ink.

This could easily have been done as a 1 layer card, but I think adding the extra layer of colour makes it ‘pop’ a bit more!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
