Welcome to our newest PCC365 sketch challenge with the Paper Craft Crew! We’ve been enduring a whole lotta rain & gray skies here for the last month and a half (I know – I shouldn’t complain, given the horrific situation in Australia). Anyway, my card today uses the Cozy Companions set by My Favorite Things – and illustrates a perfect way to spend time indoors!
PCC365 SKETCH
First, let’s look at the sketch you’ll be using as your starting point.
You’ve got white space, some patterns and a little offset focal area. As always, you can flip the sketch sideways or upside down – whatever works for your own project. Just keep the sketch easily recognizable. From there, everything else is your own choice!
COZY COMPANIONS
I actually only used 1 of the ‘companions’ from this stamp set – the adorable glasses wearing bear!
What do you think he’s got in his mug? Does he look like a tea, coffee or hot chocolate kind of bear?
CARD DETAILS
As you can see, I kept the layout exactly like the sketch. I even remembered to include the embellishments! Once I chose my colours for the bear and his chair, I kept the same colour palette for the rest of the card. Create a light blue card base, with a panel of red cardstock glued on top. Add a smaller rectangle of dark blue, with a strip of dotted paper vertically in the middle of that. Use glue for attaching, to keep the ‘bulk’ to a minimum. Next, add a panel of light blue – same as the card base – offset on top of the other smaller panels, as in the sketch.
On a separate piece of white cardstock, stamp the bear from the Cozy Companions set in Nocturne ink. Cover with clear embossing powder, and heat set. I take this extra step to ensure that my alcohol markers won’t smudge or smear the outline ink. Colour the image with alcohol markers of your choice. I used a combination of Copic, Spectrum Noir Illustrator and Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend markers. If you’re curious about which ones, they are as follows: Copic B23 Phthalo Blue (chair), R29 Lipstick Red and R35 Coral (sweater), Spectrum Noir Illustrator EB1 Sand & EB2 Natural Brown; Tri-Blend Citrus Blend (mug) & Bright Pink (foot pads & ears).
PULL IT ALL TOGETHER
After colouring, use the coordinating Cozy Companions dies to die cut the image. Use the die again to die cut the image from fun foam. I like to do this instead of using foam tape or squares for die cut images when I can. This gives a nice, even lift to the image when layering onto your project.
Finally, stamp the sentiment in Nocturne ink & heat emboss with clear embossing powder, Attach the die cut image, and layer the sentiment across the bottom. Attach your embellishments, and you’re done!
I’m really pleased with how my card turned out! Of course, I’m a sucker for adorable animal images!

Such a cute card, Deborah! I love the sentiment, and the image – I want to be doing that today. Sitting in a comfy chair with a cup of something hot and your feet up….(add a book and maybe a nice fire, and it would be perfect!)
With the snow you’ve had, being ‘bear like’ would be appropriate for you today, Buffy! I’m glad that you like this card – thanks!
What an adorable stamp set! I am with Buffy. Nothing better than a good book by a fire!
I’m glad you like this, Susan! I’d like to be next to that bear, with a good book 🙂
