This week’s sketch challenge is lots of fun – have a look:

There’s lots to work with in this sketch.  I decided to use a new stamp set – dare I say ‘a new favourite’ – I think they’re all new favourites!

This stamp set is called Awesomely Artistic – and I do really think it’s awesome!  I just love the variety of images in this set, that can be used in so many ways.

To start, I cut a small piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and stamped the flower image using StazOn black ink.  I then used my Blender Pen and Rich Razzleberry ink to colour the flowers; I started out with a light hand, then went back and added in the darker shadowing.  I coloured the leaves again with a Blender Pen and started with Pear Pizzazz in, then added the shading with the Blender Pen and Old Olive ink.  I created the frame for the flower image by using my Squares Framelits and Rich Razzleberry cardstock, layered using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  That was placed over a panel of Delightful Dijon cardstock, and the whole piece added to a piece of Bohemian Designer Series Paper.

I double wrapped these layers with the 1/8″ Gold Ribbon before attaching it to the card base of Rich Razzleberry cardstock.  To finish off the card, I stamped the sentiment frame in Delightful Dijon on Very Vanilla cardstock, then stamped the word ‘Friend’ in Rich Razzleberry ink.  It was hand cut, and attached using Dimensionals.  I knew as soon as I started designing this card that I wanted to use the dragonfly – and I wanted to make it special.  I stamped it in Versamark and  Bermuda Bay ink onto Vellum paper, then covered it with Heat & Stick Powder, and heated it with the Heat Tool.  Then I covered it with Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter, zapped it with the Heat Tool for a few more seconds, then hand cut it and used a Glue Dot to attach it to the sentiment.

Here’s a close up of the dragonfly – just ‘cuz I love it!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card for this sketch challenge; I do hope you’ll head over to the Paper Craft Crew page and see what the rest of the Design Team have created for your inspiration (I’ve seen them – they’re awesome!! 😉 )  If you have time, I love to read any comments you care to leave!

Thanks for visiting – until next time, happy stamping!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
