PCCCS154 – Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge

Hello again, and welcome to another sketch challenge with the Paper Craft Crew!

Our talented leader, Pam Staples, has come up with another great sketch for the design team to work with – I think you’re going to like it!

Here is my card for this sketch:

I realize that I didn’t ‘strictly’ follow the sketch – but the sketch is an outline to follow; your card doesn’t have to be exact!

I just recently received this Wilderness Awaits stamp set, and was dying to use it; I just love this fox!  I decided I wanted to make mine a red fox, so I looked up some images of real red foxes, and went from there.

I first stamped the fox image in Stazon Black Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock.  I then used a white pencil crayon (nothing special – just a regular pencil crayon) and coloured in the tip of the fox’s tail, and the ‘whiskers’  on either side of his nose.  I wanted to make sure that they stayed white.

I then used my Blender Pens and ink pads in Crushed Curry and Smoky Slate to colour in the fox.  In my imagination, a red fox is really, really red; but in real life, they’re a variety of shades, and their fur is blends of shades of red, and quite a bit of grey.  So in this case, I tried to stay true to real life!

I coloured the grass surrounding the fox again with my Blender Pens and Old Olive ink pad.  I hand cut the fox with my Paper Snips, and set it aside to work on the background.  I cut a square of Very Vanilla cardstock on which to work.  To stay with the 1/2 circle shape in the sketch, I  punched out a circle to use as a mask, and used a Sponge Dauber and So Saffron ink to colour the setting sun; I then added a little bit of  Pumpkin Pie ink to the edges.

Using the reverse sun mask, I then used Pumpkin Pie ink and a Sponge Dauber to create the background sunset sky.  I then layered the fox in front of the sunset, added a small strip of retired DSP in front, then added a piece of Gold Baker’s Twine, and added the tag, and tied a bow.  All of this was then layered onto a larger square of Cajun Craze cardstock.  The card base is also Cajun Craze cardstock, with a layer of Bohemian DSP under the stamped panel.
