Welcome stamping friends, to another sketch challenge with the Paper Craft Crew!

Paper Craft Crew DT Badge

This week’s sketch reminded me of framed cross-stitch framed pictures you see in some houses or restaurants, that remind me of days gone by…what does this sketch make you think of?

Okay – maybe it’s the card I came up with that reminds me of the cross-stitched pictures – have a look:

PCCCS161 happy scenes

I used my Big Shot and the Ovals Collection Framelits to cut 2 ovals from Whisper White and Mossy Meadow cardstock.  I then inked up the image from the Happy Scenes stamp set using Tip Top Taupe ink, and stamped it onto the Whisper White oval.  I didn’t want to leave the images all neutral, so I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to add some colour.  To colour the pumpkins I outlined them with the Tangelo Twist marker, then coloured them in using the Pumpkin Pie ink pad and a Blender Pen.  I added colour to the leaves using the Markers in Delightful Dijon, Mossy Meadow and Pumpkin Pie, and used Mossy Meadow for the grass.

After layering the 2 ovals, I used the retired Labels Framelits Dies (you could use the current Deco Labels Collection) and cut the label from Delightful Dijon cardstock.  The sentiment was stamped onto Whisper White cardstock in Pumpkin Pie ink, and the leaves were created using the Vintage Leaves stamp set, and inking up the image using Sponge Daubers and dabbing Pumpkin Pie and Delightful Dijon ink onto the stamps, then stamping onto Whisper White cardstock.  They were die cut using the Big Shot and the Leaflets Framelits.

Did you notice the leaf outlines on the Tangelo Twist cardstock?  No, we don’t have a new embossing folder – what I did was lay down a few of the Leaflets Framelits onto the cutting plate (cutting side down), then placed the cardstock on top, and ran it through the Big Shot.  Voila!  Leaf impressions in my cardstock! 🙂  Here’s a close up picture so you can better see the embossing:

I then layered everything on top of the Tangelo Twist embossed cardstock, and added  a strip of Gold Foil cardstock beneath the sentiment, then added a few gold sequins from the Gold Sequin Trim.  Everything was then layered onto a card base of Mossy Meadow cardstock.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my design team card for this challenge – please go check out the creations from the rest of  the design team – they are amazing!  Just go to the Paper Craft Crew page, check them out, then create your own card to join in the challenge!  You never know when you’ll be the next Featured Artisan!

Thanks for spending some time with me today – be sure to come back tomorrow for some more inspiration!

Until then – happy stamping!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
