Welcome back, stamping friend, to another challenge with the Paper Craft Crew!

It’s so good to see you here; I  hope that you’ve been enjoying the challenges, and taking the leap and entering into some of them yourself.  Is there a type of challenge you prefer the most – sketch, colour, theme?  Leave me a comment below – I’d love to hear which you like best.

This week we have another theme challenge for you – all about Giving Thanks:

PCCCS171

We’re past our Thanksgiving here in Canada, so I wanted to find something a little different for this card.  I was at a vendor fair last weekend, and my best friend Susan made a special trip to come & see me (she even brought me my favourite coffee – a caramel macchiato!) even though she had to be somewhere else, in the total opposite direction – she inspired this card 🙂

This set is called In This Together – you can find it in the Annual Catalogue on page 114.  Susan & I have been friends for 37 years now, so I think we really have been through it all, together!

I started with a card base of Crumb Cake, cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″, and scored at 5 1/2″.  For the next layer I used Not Quite Navy cardstock, and I wanted to create the illusion of rain – the ladies are sharing an umbrella, after all!  First I tried splashing some bleach on the cardstock, but that didn’t turn out like anything useable, so then I mixed a bit of Tombow Multipurpose Glue with the tiniest bit of water to thin it out, picked it up with a paintbrush, and by tapping the edge of the brush against my hand, got the dots of watery glue.  I let them dry (okay, I used my Heat Tool – patience is not my best virtue!), and they dried clear, but with dimension.  Here’s a closer picture so you can see them:

I stamped the ladies in Archival Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock, and used a combination of Stampin’ Write Markers and ink pads with Blender Pens to colour.  The colours I used are Watermelon Wonder, Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay, Tip Top Taupe, Crumb Cake and Smoky Slate.  Oh – and a little Blushing Bride, for the rosy cheeks!

The ‘thanks’ is die cut from Daffodil Yellow cardstock using the Big Shot and Hello You Thinlits.  The ‘friend’ and frame are from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set; stamped in Smoky Slate onto Whisper White and Daffodil Delight cardstock.

Everything was attached to the ‘splashed’ Night of Navy panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

That’s it for my card – thanks to my friend Susan for the inspiration, and the Paper Craft Crew for the theme!  I hope you’ll head over and check out the other fabulous cards made by the rest of the design team – and then submit your own!

Until next time – happy stamping!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
