Peekaboo Card for Freshly Made Sketches

Happy Friday, my friend! I came across a sketch the other day, and decided to join! What happened was, I was stuck for an idea for today’s share, so I was scrolling through my Facebook feed. I saw the Freshly Made Sketches challenge, and decided to make this peekaboo card.

I needed to flip the layout to horizontal, but otherwise my peekaboo card is pretty close to the sketch!

PEEKABOO CARD

I picked up this unique embossing folder/die through on on-line group I belong to; the die is actually built in (attached to the middle) of the embossing folder! So I used it plus a stamp set that I got from this same group.

CARD DETAILS

First, run the embossing folder/die through  your die cutting machine. I used a brick coloured cardstock, for ‘realism’. Just go with me on that, okay?! Next, I used Vintage Photo Distress Oxide and sponged it over the cardstock.

On a piece of white cardstock, stamp the cat image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I chose to use my Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils to colour the cat, but you can use whatever you like. For the cat’s face, I used Warm Gray V #274, and Warm Gray II #271. For the nose & ears, use Rose Carmine #124, and for the eyes, use Phthalo Blue #110. Colour the lighter areas with #101, White.

After colouring the cat, use a blender brush and Broken China Distress Oxide ink to shade the background. Next, attach the 2 layers together with foam tape.  On a pane of white cardstock, attach strips of light and dark aqua blue at the top and bottom. Now, attach the image panel in the middle. This photo below gives you a close up of the cat peeking through the opening in the brick wall.

Stamp the sentiment from the MFT Well, Hello stamp set in Versamark ink on the bottom strip. To do this, I set up the panel in my MISTI, to avoid any mistakes. Cover the sentiment with white embossing powder, and heat set.  Finally, attach the front panel onto a heavy weight white card base.

I’m sure you’ll have fun, if you join this challenge too! The more the merrier, right? If you need any supplies – not just for this challenge – I’ve included some links below to some of the products I’ve used on this card. If you have questions about how you can get this unique embossing/die folder, send me a message or leave a comment, and I can pass on the group info where I got it from.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
