Precious Pets Inspiration Challenge

Welcome to Wednesday! Get ready for a cuteness overload, because we have a precious pets inspiration challenge for you with the Paper Craft Crew! That’s right – bring in all the furry, the fluffy, the feathered and scaled – all pets count. Don’t currently have a pet? No worries – just use your imagination; maybe choose a stamp of the pet you wish you had.

PRECIOUS PETS INSPIRATION CHALLENGE

Precious Pets Inspiration Challenge

I told you there would be cuteness! With an inspiration challenge, everything is your choice! If you want, you can use the actual picture above as your inspiration, and put your pet in a pot. You can use the colours in the photo as part of your inspiration. Be sure to include a pet – and the rest is up to you. I can’t wait to see what you create – I know it’ll be cute!

BEST IN SHOW

This was pure serendipity! I had actually ordered this stamp set and dies from My Favorite Things weeks before I saw this challenge. MFT was having a flash sale of I think it was 40 or 50% off – so I could justify getting this awesome Best in Show stamp set and matching dies.

Precious Pets Inspiration Challenge

I couldn’t wait to play with this set! It has 3 amazing dog images, plus agility equipment and 7 of the best sentiments.

IMAGE DETAILS

Choose the dogs & equipment from the Best in Show stamp set, and stamp on white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Use alcohol markers for colouring – I used my Stampin’ Blends markers. The weave poles are just an outline image, so I added some stripes in dark blue. You can choose any fun colours you want with these images, as they’re all outlines.

Stamp the sentiment in dark blue ink onto a strip of white cardstock. Cut another strip of dark blue cardstock just a bit longer than the white, and angle cut the left end. Layer them on top of each other with foam tape.

After colouring, use your Big Shot or other die cutting machine with the matching Best in Show dies. Set them aside while you prepare your background.

CREATE THE BACKGROUND

I kept the ink blending for the background pretty simple, as the dogs really are the stars of the show here! For the grass, use a Blender brush and apply Shabby Shutters Distress ink. On top of that, add Mowed Lawn, a darker green, part way up and around the edges at the bottom.

Leave a space of white, and blend on Tumbled Glass and Broken China Distress Oxide inks for the sky. Die cut the clouds from white cardstock using the Beach Bunnies Dies, also from MFT.

ASSEMBLE YOUR CARD

Now that your background is ready, you can put all the pieces together! Attach the hurdle directly to the blended panel with liquid glue. Next, attach your jumping dog with foam tape or squares. I use liquid glue to attach all but one of the weave poles; only the one next to the dog is attached with foam tape cut to fit. Finally, attach the clouds and sentiment strip, and then add the card front to a dark blue cardstock base.

I just love all the dimension and action on this card! I know I’m going to have such fun with this stamp set and bundle. Just the different colours alone, that you can make the dogs and the equipment, is going to be a blast!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
