Hello, my friend.  I apologize for my absence; we’ve had some awful news in our family. My sister’s husband was in an accident with his motorcycle, and has passed away. We are, needless to say, all devastated, and trying to deal with this.  They live one province over from us (a 12 hour drive, or 1 1/2 hour flight), so it’s hard to not ‘be there’ for my sister & her girls right now. We will be going next week for his Celebration of Life.  I’ve heard that some people believe that when a hummingbird visits you, that it’s a good sign, or good luck. Well, we could use something good right now, so I thought I’d share this pretty hummingbird coaster set that I made recently.

HUMMINGBIRD COASTER SET

This is a set of 4 round coasters, with the coaster holder.

Pretty Hummingbirds

Hummingbirds are attracted by red, or bright pink, so I went with the pink theme. This worked well with the pink coneflowers that the hummingbird is perched on, on each coaster.

To create them, I first did the layer of pink tinted resin, with white in the middle. After this was cured, I then placed the special transfer of the hummingbird on the flower in the middle. Next, each one was covered with a layer of clear resin, ensuring that the transfer won’t fade or chip.  The coaster holder is the solid pink, with a gold rim painted afterwards, Each coaster is also painted with a thin gold rim.

Here’s a close up photo, so you can see the details.

We keep our hummingbird feeder up year ’round, as we have 2 types of them that visit us. With our temperate climate, the Anna’s breed stays all year, and the Rufous usually migrates after breeding. I have the feeder set up next to one of the kitchen windows, so I can see them all the time!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
