Welcome to a new week, my friend! I hope that you had a good weekend. Did you enjoy our Scrap ‘N Stamp ‘Sending Paper Hugs’ blog hop? If you missed out, there’s still time to enjoy! You can START HERE at my post, and then make your way around. Be sure to comment on each blog, for a chance to WIN a $50 Gift Card from Scrap ‘N Stamp! Contest is open world wide! Usually, there is a month- long challenge with the same theme as our hop. However this month, Scrap ‘N Stamp is changing things up. This month, there’s a new theme daily, for a month of Random Acts of Cardness! You know, instead of ‘kindness’? Enter daily, or as many times as you want. There’s a new prompt/theme each day, and some will coordinate with that day’s post on the Scrap ‘N Stamp Blog. Once you’ve created your project, link it up anywhere on social media – the SNS Facebook challenge page, Pinterest, Instagram or elsewhere, using hashtag #SNSCHALLENGE. On May 1st, one person from all entries with that hashtag will be drawn as a winner for a $50 Gift Card! Below is the list of daily prompts/themes.
How fun is that?! Prompts or themes always help, if you’re feeling creatively blocked, or just in a slump.
LAWN FAWN
I thought I’d play along with today’s theme of Lawn Fawn.! I chose one of my first and favourite Lawn Fawn sets, called Upon A Star. There is also a coordinating die set, to match with the stamps.
I just love the cute fox & bunnies in this set.
CARD DETAILS
First, create your background. Start with a piece of white cardstock. Use a blending tool to apply Pine Needles Distress Oxide ink to the bottom third of the panel. Next, blend on Faded Jeans along with Dusty Concord Distress Oxide inks. This creates a pretty night time sky. Now, set up the blended panel in your MISTI, or other stamp platform. Place the star stamps from the Upon A Star set when you want them, and then pick them up with the MISTI lid. Ink up the stars with Versamark ink, and stamp onto the panel. Cover the ink with white embossing powder, and heat set. Add more small stars with a fine point white gel pen. Now, add more texture to the sky and grass by lightly spraying water, with a Mini Mister. Let the water sit for a few seconds, and then blot up the excess with a paper towel. Now you can set the panel aside, to dry thoroughly.
On a separate piece of white cardstock, stamp the animal images from the Upon a Star set in Tuxedo Black ink. Now colour the images. I laid down a base of colour with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers, and then added depth & texture with my Faber Castelle pencils. Next, use the coordinating dies to die cut each image. Stamp the sentiment in a dark blue ink, and then with Versamark, onto a strip of white cardstock. Cover the stamping with clear embossing powder, and heat set. Now you’re ready to layer the pieces together.
I think I know what everyone is wishing for, right now; this pandemic to be over, and our loved ones safe & healthy!
