BIRTHDAY CAKE

Nothing says ‘birthday party’ more than a big ol’ cake, so I pulled out the Colorado Craft Company Big & Bold Birthday Cake stamp set!

Personally, I’m a ‘chocolate’ girl. Chocolate cake, chocolate icing – the more chocolate the better! But that might seem a little dull on a card, so I opted for bright pink frosting, and coloured sprinkles!

CARD DETAILS

They don’t call this stamp ‘big and bold’ for nothing – it fills your card front!  First, stamp it onto white cardstock with Nocturne ink. Cover with clear embossing powder, and heat set. Now you’re ready to colour. I chose a combination of my Copic and Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend Markers. Copic Sepia E37 is used for the cake itself, while the icing is Tri-Blend Bright Pink. The sprinkles are added with Copic Process Blue B05 and Tri-Blend Citrus.  To add shine to the icing, add some Nuvo Crystal Glaze, once the colouring is complete. In this photo below, you can see that shine!

Stamp the sentiment, from the same Birthday Cake stamp set, in bright pink onto a strip of white cardstock. Use a blending tool & Picked Raspberry distress ink on the edges, to make it stand out. Add it to the cake with foam tape or squares. Add your card front to a panel of light yellow cardstock with foam tape or fun foam, and then to a card base of bright pink. Finally, finish off your card with some embellishments. I found these cute ones in my stash!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

  5. One of my favorite sentiments for a birthday card is “May your layers be many and your frosting be thick.” This card immediately brings that to mind!
