Sketch Challenge PCC352

Welcome to Sketch Challenge PCC352 – this week’s new challenge with the Paper Craft Crew! Get your creative thinking cap on, and get ready to  join us. First, let’s look at the sketch.

PCC352 SKETCH

Sketch Challenge PCC352

As always, the sketch is your starting point. You can flip it sideways, upside down or backwards. Use whatever stamps, colours, etc. that you have on hand. As long as we can recognize the basic sketch, you’re golden! I’m looking forward to seeing what you do.

ROOTED IN NATURE

With the weather turning fall like, I pulled out one of my favourite Stampin’ Up! sets called Rooted in Nature. I do love nature themed stamps, especially trees and leaves.

You can see that I stayed very close to the sketch, only changing the bottom shape from a circle to a die cut leaf.

CARD DETAILS

Once I had decided what set I wanted to  use, this card came together quite quickly. First, stamp the tall tree image onto a piece of white cardstock, with SU! Shaded Spruce ink for the foliage. Use a brown marker to colour in the trunk.  On another piece of white cardstock, stamp the small leaf. Create the two-tone look by adding first Spiced Marmalade and then Fired Brick Distress inks onto the stamp. Smooth them out with a blending tool, and then stamp.

Use the coordinating Rooted in Nature dies to die cut the leaf, and some stitched ovals dies to die cut the tall tree. Die cut another, slightly larger oval, in Shaded Spruce cardstock.

Create a card base of Shaded Spruce cardstock, and then attach a panel of wood grain patterned paper on top. Now, layer the two ovals with foam tape, and attach them to the front. Attach the die cut leaf to the bottom right edge of the oval, and glue on a double bow of linen thread. Finish off your card with some coloured enamel dots.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

    1. Thanks, Susan! Now that Lovely as a Tree is retired, Rooted with Nature has become the ‘new classic’, I guess.

      1. ha ha! I thought I was the only one who did that, Buffy! I’m glad that you like my card – the Rooted in Nature is the ‘new’ classic, isn’t it?

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
