Welcome back, stamping friend, to another challenge with the Paper Craft Crew Design Team!
This week we have another great sketch challenge for you:
I just received (another) order of new products, and I really wanted to use the new Floral Phrases stamp set and Detailed Floral Thinlits – so here you go!
We’re having a very dull, dreary day here, and no matter what I tried with the lighting, the Elegant Eggplant just keeps looking like Black! So, you’ll have to take my word on it – the stamping, die cuts and cardstock are Elegant Eggplant and Whisper White – no black ink involved!
To create the top die cut, I placed the smaller of the 2 floral thinlits onto a piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock, and then placed the edgelit along the end of the flowers, then ran it through the Big Shot. Using the additional edgelit gives you a nice, clean finish to your flower shapes. I then attached it to my Whisper White panel using the liquid Tombow glue; simply placing little dots of glue along the wider areas worked perfectly.
I then stamped the flower image in Elegant Eggplant onto Whisper White, and used the Ovals Framelits to die cut it, and the Elegant Eggplant layer behind it. The stamp is created so that the different areas pick up different amounts of ink, which gives you that lovely tonal effect. (next time, I’m going to stamp using the Baby Wipe technique, with blended colours!). The sentiment, also from the Floral Phrases set, was stamped onto a scrap of Whisper White, and punched out using the retired Oval Punch. I used a sponge dauber to add a little bit of Elegant Eggplant around the edges, just to help it stand out a bit from the flower image.
Finally, I attached all the pieces to the card base (again – Elegant Eggplant; not black!), then added a couple of the gorgeous Metal Rimmed Pearls.
You can see that I did stray *a bit* from the sketch, but the general shape is still there, and recognizable! I will definitely be using this fabulous bundle a lot in the coming year!
I do hope you’ll take a look at the what the rest of the Design Team have created for your inspiration; simply go to the Paper Craft Crew page, then create your own card to join the challenge!
Thanks for spending some time with me today; if you have a comment, I’d love to read what you have to say!
Until next time – happy stamping,
