Sketch Challenge with Secret Santa

Welcome to this week’s Paper Craft Crew challenge! It’s a sketch challenge for you this week, so get your thinking caps on. I decided to use one of my new holiday stamps, so it’s a sketch challenge with Secret Santa from me!

PCC360 SKETCH CHALLENGE

This is the sketch that you’ll be working from; there’s lots of interesting elements to it.

Of course, you choose whatever stamps you want to use! Start with the sketch – and you can flip it sideways or upside down if you want. Use your own colours, and you can even change the focal shape if you want. Get creative, and have fun!

SECRET SANTA

At first I was stumped as to what image to put in the focal area. Then, I decided to look at my stamps, thinking what image I could use just a part of, instead of a whole image. Voila – Secret Santa won! This is a new holiday set from My Favorite Things; you can also get the coordinating dies to match, although I didn’t use them here. (but you can bet that I have them!)

As you can see, I kept the sketch layout the same, just substituted a couple of the accent pieces.

CARD DETAILS

Start with a square of white cardstock, and stamp the Santa image in Nocturne ink. Cover with clear embossing powder, and heat set. Use your favourite markers for colouring the image. I chose to use my Zig Real Brush Markers, because of their vibrant colours.  After colouring, use some nesting square dies to cut the image and a red cardstock piece for layering underneath.

Use the Hero Arts Snowflake Cluster die and gold foil, to die cut the snowflakes. Cut a card base of red cardstock, and add a panel of white cardstock on top. For the bottom half, attach a piece of striped, flocked paper with glue. Next, glue on the die cut snowflake cluster to the left side. Layer the Santa image panel with foam tape, and attach it on top of the snowflakes. Finish off the front panel with some gold dots above the right corner of the image panels, and tie a double knot of gold ribbon to the bottom left.

Isn’t that Santa just the cutest?! Stay tuned, because you know I”ll be back with lots more cards using this fun stamp set.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

    1. Thanks, Buffy – I agree, that Santa is so cute! The whole set is; I’m looking forward to making more cards with it (and of course, I bought the dies too!) I love the saturated colours of the Zig markers too.

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
