Hello my friend! You may recall that last week in THIS POST, I shared some works in progress.  Well, I’m back to report that I have some completed work, now!  In the case of my parent’s selling their home, the good news is that it’s sold! The market here is crazy; there’s more buyers than sellers. In only 4 days, they had 17 offers. They chose the best one for them, and that’s one item off the ‘big move’ checklist!  We also found a great service that provides downsizing and moving services for seniors. I spent some time helping them sort items in the downstairs (finished rec room), and the service came last Friday, and the downstairs is now almost totally empty! Whew! Now we have time, and space, to go through the upstairs, and sort everything there.  On a creative note, I’ve finished my Macaw watercolour painting!

WATERCOLOUR MACAW

As I said in my previous post (link above), I used a gorgeous reference photo by Deborah Coker, shared in a Facebook group I belong to. This is the photo, below.

I traced the outline of the bird onto a 9″ x 12″ piece of 140 lb. Arches coldpress paper, and painted with my Brusho Crystal Colours.  In the face area, where the birds have very few feathers, I also applied white texture paste, for a slight 3D effect where the skin is ‘wrinkled’.  Here’s my painting, below.

And here’s another picture, where I placed a black mat over the painting. It helps give it a more ‘finished’ look.

Some Completed Work

I  hope that you enjoy seeing my painting! I’ve happy to have some completed work to share with you! Right now, I’m working on a painting of a different kind, using alcohol ink.  I’ll share that with you when it’s finished.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

  1. II’m so glad your parents’ move is going well. Your real estate market sounds like ours! It’s a great time for sellers, for sure. Your painting is beautiful. Love all the texture you’ve added with the different depths of color and brush strokes. Lovely!

    1. So glad that you like my Macaw painting, Buffy! I do like the extra texture from the paste. I hope that the housing market is working in your favour, as well! 🙂

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
