Welcome back, Stampin' Friends!

I hope you enjoyed yesterday's blog post; it's always so wonderful for me to read your comments and know that you've had a look at what's been going on in my Stampin' world πŸ™‚

As I mentioned yesterday, I gave some little gifts to the hostess and guests at Pam P.'s private card class.  They seemed to really enjoy them, and so I thought I'd share them with you here.

You're probably wondering about the title of this blog – 'something old, something new'? What's with that?  Well, the 'old' refers not to the gifts themselves!, but rather the tutorials that have been around for a little while.  The 'something new' refers to a new product that I used to make the hostess gift.

Do I have your curiosity up yet?  Do you want to see them?  Are you sure?! Okay….

Here's one of the 'something old' gifts – a Post-it note holder, complete with little pen!  Everyone needs one of these in their purse, on their desk and in their car's glove compartment!  Not only will you always have paper & pen for those important notes, but you'll be able to find it AND read it afterwards! πŸ™‚

**the smaller 2 in front are the Post-it Note holders; the large one behind is a junior legal pad holder.

These go together quite quickly – here's how:

To make the cover, cut a piece of card stock 3 1/2" x 8 1/8".  Score at 3 1/2", 3 7/8" and 4 1/4".

Fold at the centre score line (3 7/8") and using your paper snips, cut 2 slits approximately 1/2" wide from the 3 1/2" score line to the 4 1/4" score line.

Place sticky strip along the 4 1/4" score line, but not on the portion that you cut.

Using your fingers, push the 1/2" wide slit portion outwards (this is the part that will hold the pen), and bring the 3 7/8" score line towards the sticky tape, and secure it down.

You can now decorate the front of your post it note holder as you like!  Adhere your Post-it Note pad inside using sticky strip, to keep it safely in place.

The next 'old' is something else that we can all use, year-round – a Gift Card holder!  I don't know about you, but I have 2 teenaged sons who love getting gift cards to their favourite stores and iTunes; plus it's so much easier to send a gift card across the country to relatives.  I really like this style of gift card, as the card 'pops up' when you open it.

I have to admit – I forgot to take pictures of my gift card holders (*blush*) so I'm sharing a picture of some my friend and fellow SU! demo , Donna W. made!

Aren't they great?!  I could write out a tutorial for you, but another SU! demo has made a terrific video that you can watch – her name is Gina K., and here's the link to her video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGyj-h8xwag&feature=relmfu  Let me know if you have any questions about putting these together!

Okay – now for the 'something new'!  In the Spring Catalogue, Stampin' Up! has these cool new 'Soda Pop Tops' (pg. 24, item  #129388 $4.95)  They come in 2 sizes – you get 8 of the 1/2" size, and 8 of the 1" size.    I just knew I had to have them!

I saw this idea from another demonstrator on our demonstrator website, and knew it would be perfect as a hostess gift:

As you can see, I packaged it up nicely to present it to the hostess πŸ˜‰

 And here's a close-up picture  –  I 'heart' Stampin' Up!

What do you think?  I can see soooo many ways to use these Soda Pop Tops (in fact, I've already used them on cards) – necklaces, bracelets, zipper pulls…whatever your imagination can come up with!

And of course, what's an evening of card making without something sweet to eat?  Since Valentine's day is coming up on us quickly, I made the ladies some Cupid's arrows – filled with Smarties!

I hope you've had fun looking at these projects, and I hope you'll make some for yourself!  Of course if you need any supplies, you know what to do – contact me at debsmart@shaw.ca, call me at 604.298.0472 or place your order online by clicking on the 'Order Now' button at the top right hand side of this page!

If you'd like to have a fun Private Party of your own – I'm happy to help make that happen!  You choose a date, book your friends, and I'll bring the crafty fun!

I hope to hear from you soon – until then – Happy Stampin'!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

  1. Hi Deb, your projects are great! I especially love the key chain and the Valentine treat…how clever to make it into an arrow!

    1. Thanks! My husband liked the keychain so much, he asked me to make one with his company logo, too! πŸ™‚

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
