Springtime Foils

I hate to admit it, but the beautiful Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper has been sitting, barely used, in my stash for several weeks now. What was I waiting for?! This DSP is gorgeous, and such fun to use. In this card, I decided to do some colouring with my Stampin’ Blends markers, directly onto the paper.

Springtime Foils

This paper has a smooth finish to it, so the marker ink doesn’t immediately get absorbed into the paper. This gives you some extra blending time, and allows the ink to move more freely on the paper.

The flowers in this piece are obviously the stars, so I decided to just colour a couple of them. The rose gold foil outlining makes it easy to colour ‘within the lines’. Colour one of the flowers using the Pumpkin Pie Combo Pack of Blends, and the other with the Daffodil Delight Combo Pack. Use the Old Olive Combo Pack of Blends to colour the leaves.

After colouring, stamp the sentiment from the Colorful Seasons stamp set onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock with Pumpkin Pie ink. Use the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits to die cut the sentiment. Next, use a Sponge Dauber with the Pumpkin Pie ink to shade around the edge of the die cut.

Wrap a length of 1/8″ Sheer Ribbon in Old Olive twice around the DSP, attaching it at the back with Tear & Tape.  Now attach the sentiment circle on top of it, with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To create the notched corners, use the 3/4″ Circle Punch, and punch out the opposite corners. Attach the DSP to the Pumpkin Pie cardstock panel with Dimensionals. Finally, attach the front panels to the Old Olive cardstock base, again with Dimensionals.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

    1. Of course we would decide to share the same paper, and colouring, at the same time! 🙂 That’s why we’re friends!

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
