Sunny, Cheerful Card

Well my friend, we’ve made it through another week, to the weekend! It was very wet & chilly day a few days ago, so I wanted to create a sunny, cheerful card. So I chose the brightest of my Distress Inks – Mustard Seed, to create the background.

DOODLE FLOWERS

Instead of spending lots of time colouring, I simply heat embossed the image in white embossing powder on the white cardstock.

This card came together so easily, and is so cheerful. Doesn’t that sentiment fit perfectly with the bright yellow ink?

CARD DETAILS

With this large background stamp, Doodle Flowers, from Taylored Expressions, I find it’s important to use a stamp platform. Set up the stamp & cardstock in your MISTI, and ink up the stamp with Versamark ink. Press firmly to stamp; repeating the inking & stamping to ensure full coverage. For these fine line images, I like to use WOW Extra Fine white embossing powder. Cover the stamping with this, and then set with a  heat tool.

Now, use a blending brush or tool to apply the Mustard Seed Distress Ink on top of the stamped image. Keep the ink darker on the outside, and get lighter as you move towards the center. Next, set up the sentiment stamp from Poppystamps Diamond Sentiments stamp set & the embossed panel in your MISTI. Stamp the sentiment in Versamark, and then cover with gold embossing powder. Set with a heat tool.

I really wanted the card front to ‘pop’, so I layered it on top of a piece of black cardstock with fun foam (you can use foam tape), and then onto a bright yellow card base. Finish off the card front with a few gold metallic pearls.

SUPPLIES

This would be a wonderful thank you card to send, don’t you think? We’ve all been pretty dependent on delivery drivers these days; image their surprise to receive a card like this!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
