Thankful with Jillibean Soup

Well friend, we’re one day closer to the weekend! And more fun – we’re one day closer to our Scrap ‘N Stamp Blog Hop, which is tomorrow! (that’s Friday Nov. 6th, in case you’re reading this on a different day). I’m really excited about the 2 cards I’ve created to share with you tomorrow. But that’s for tomorrow! Today, I’ve created a fun card with the Thankful set from Jillibean Soup. This is another of the sets that my friend Mari sent me for my birthday, a couple of months ago. Thanks, Mari! 🙂

THANKFUL

This set comes with the stamps, and coordinating dies, which makes creating fun & easy! I decided to use the flower stamps to create my own background for the beautiful butterfly.

I really needed some bright colours today! We’ve had a rainy few days, and couple that with the time change…well, it’s been too gloomy! So I used some bright distress inks for colouring.

CARD DETAILS

Do you use the Concord & 9th Turnabout stamps? I do, and I like the idea of setting up the stamps once, then just turning the paper. So that’s what I did here – made my own version of the turnabout! (Concord & 9th has nothing to worry about!)  First, set up a piece of white cardstock in your MISTI, or other stamp platform. Next, place the flower image stamps where you want them. Now, ink up the images with 3 different colours, and stamp! Turn the paper one quarter turn, re-ink the stamps, and repeat until you’ve completed a full turn, back to the beginning. Next, add some leaf images to fill in any blank areas. The colours I chose are Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves, Mustard Seed and Shabby Shutters; all Distress Inks.

For the butterfly, set up a different piece of cardstock and the butterfly stamp in your MISTI. Use the same inks to dab the colours onto the butterfly stamps, and then stamp down onto the cardstock. If needed, add more ink and stamp again. I really like how it turned out with a ‘batik’ look – here’s a close up, below.

The last stamp to do is the sentiment. Stamp in the pink onto a strip of white cardstock. Now, use the matching butterfly die with your Big Shot, to die cut the shape. Now you’re ready to layer everything together, using foam squares or tape.

I went with pink and purple cardstock, to tie in the colours used for stamping.
