Have you ever heard the saying ‘there is no bad weather, just inappropriate clothing’, or something like that? I guess that we’re officially in that phase of the year. In the fall here in Vancouver, we’re very used to dressing in layers. Because in the morning it can be very chilly, and/or raining. But by mid day, you need to strip off a layer or two because the rain has stopped, the sun has come out, and it’s near summer temperatures! Ah, the west coast! We have it all, and sometimes all in one day *wink*. Today’s card reflects the chillier part of the weather.
This is the Jill Girl stamp from Picket Fence Studios. I love the cozy sweater, complete with knitted scarf and matching mittens.
I pulled out my alcohol markers to colour this image.
First stamp the image onto smooth white cardstock in Nocturne ink. Next, colour with your favourite markers and colours. I used a combination of Copic and Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers; all colours are listed in my shopping links at the bottom of this post. After colouring, place the Taylored Expressions Masking Rectangle on top of the image, creating a mask over it. Next, use a blending tool to apply Broken China Distress Oxide ink around the image. This gives you a layered look, without an additional layer of cardstock.
For the sentiment, die cut a piece of red cardstock with the Birch Press Designs Handwritten Just a Note & Outline Die, with the Big Shot. Attach the card front to a dark red card base, with foam tape or fun foam layer. Next, attach the sentiment with liquid glue. Finally, add a few Nuvo Cherry Hearts Gemstones to the card front.
In these continued days of ‘distancing’, this is a great card to send to any of your friends that you haven’t seen in person, in a while.
Come back for tomorrow’s post. I’ll be sharing a card made for Day 9 of the Scrap ‘N Stamp Daily Challenge, and the prompt is ‘Cozy’. Supplies for today’s card are all listed, below.
