Thinking of You

Last week was a tough week. We said our goodbye’s to my best friend’s Mom, whom I’ve known for over 40 years. A wonderful, Scottish lady (that should say it all!). She was funny, loving, caring, and always made you feel welcome. When she asked how you were, and how the family was doing, she wasn’t just being polite. She cared about your answer. Her girls (my best friend, and her sister, who are the only children) held a wonderful service and reception, with many memories shared. We laughed, we cried, and shared the love.  So this card goes out to them, and also their Mom, who will remain always in our hearts and minds. Thinking of You, Maureen ♥

EVERLASTING HAPPINESS

Maureen loved flowers, and purple was one of ‘her’ colours. The Altenew Everlasting Happiness stamp set, and the Concord & 9th Fabulous Phrases die set are what I used for this card. I like to think that, now reunited with her husband, she has reached Everlasting Happiness.

CARD DETAILS

This card is done with stamping the large wreath flowers at the top and bottom of the white cardstock panel. Stamp in Versamark ink, and heat emboss with white embossing powder. Use your blending tools to apply the colours. I chose 3 of my favourite Stampin’ Up! ink colours; Blueberry Bushel, Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather. These are blended from top to bottom, darkest to lightest.

Die cut the thinking of you phrase from the Fabulous Phrases die set two times. Once in white cardstock, and a second time in dark purple cardstock. Layer the two die cuts together , slightly offsetting the purple behind the white, to create a shadow. I like to use a Quickie Glue Pen for this, as it applies easily to the letters. Next, attach the sentiment to the stamped & blended panel, in the middle between the flowers.

Finally, finish off the card front with a few silver droplets. Attach the front panel to a dark blue card base.

CHERISH THE MEMORIES

Our loved ones eventually leave us; it’s the ‘circle of life’. However, we can still keep them with us in the memories we have, and stories we tell. In the meantime, be sure to tell those close to you that you are thinking of them. Whether it’s a text, a phone call, or a thinking of you card, trust me – it’s always appreciated!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)
