Hello my friend! We at the Paper Craft Crew know that it’s busy season, so this week we have a two week holiday sketch challenge for you! Either get it done right away, or do it after Christmas – the choice is yours. Whenever you decide to do it, have fun! Let’s have a look at the sketch.
PCC363 TWO WEEK HOLIDAY CHALLENGE
You get to decide on the theme; it doesn’t have to be Christmas or holidays. And of course you can rotate the orientation of the sketch, or change the focal shape. Just keep the sketch easily recognizable! And like I said – have fun! It’s your ‘me time’ to create, putting aside any holiday stress that may be happening.
SEASON’S MARVEL
I decided to make mine a winter theme. With cool blues an a pop of warmth with the red, I’m happy with how it turned out. Let’s see what you think!
I chose the Penny Black Season’s Marvel stamp set. This time I used 2 images that I’ve hardly used at all; the branches and one of the birds.
CARD DETAILS
Start with a piece of white cardstock. Use a blending tool to add Broken China Distress Oxide ink. Next, spray some water onto the panel. Allow the water to sit for a few seconds, and then blot dry. For larger drops, put some water into your hand, and flick it on with your fingers. Again, blot dry after a few seconds. This adds some wonderful texture to your background.
Next, set up the panel and the branches stamp in your stamp platform. Cover the branches with brown ink, and stamp over the blue background. Next, add red to the berries with a marker, and stamp again. Clean and remove the branch stamp, and line up the bird stamp. Cover the bird with red ink, and stamp onto the branch. It will take a 2-3 times stamping with extra ink, for a nice dark image. Yes – I should’ve stamped the bird first, and then masked it to stamp the branch – but I wasn’t thinking! *doh* Use a white gel pen to add some snowflakes to the background.
Now, use a stitched oval to die cut the image. Use a larger oval to die cut some patterned paper; I chose a music paper from my stash. For the background panel, blend on Broken China ink, placing then removing your image panel to get an idea of the area you want to add the ink. Attach the music paper first with glue, and then a strip of gold ribbon to the left side of the oval. Now attach your image oval with foam tape, aligning it to the left. Add a wooden snowflake embellishment in the top left of the oval. For a final touch, add some glitter enamel dots in red.

What a great card, Deborah. I love the colors and the music DSP in the background. BTW, have you fixed your email so I can start getting posts again?
I’m glad you like my challenge card, Susan! Do you recognize that music paper – it’s from my SU! stash 😉 I sent you an email about my notification problem – it’s still not fixed 🙁
