Are you up for the challenge? This week, Libby has chosen a unique challenge for us – a colour challenge, using Black on White.
AND – it’s a ‘Simply Stamping’ challenge – which means: “Simply Stamping” is a return to basics. We expect either one single stamped layer or a base with one single layer on that. We expect simple stamping. You can use masking, heat embossing, stencilling, sponging. You cannot use an embossing folder or embellishments or additional layers (not even a tag)
So – keep it clean and simple, and use black on top of a white base. Well, it isn’t called a challenge for nothin’! 🙂
My mind went to silhouettes for the ‘black’, so I searched through my stamp sets to decide which to use. This is what I came up with:
Yes, it’s my old favourite, Sheltering Tree! I gotta admit though; this is the first time I’ve stamped it and it’s looked more spooky than sheltering!
So, keeping with the Simply Stamping, I stamped directly onto my Whisper White card base in Memento Black ink. First I stamped the tree, then the grass under it. Next, I used my Sweet Home stamp set for the bats, spiderweb and sentiment. And that’s it! It took longer to decide on which stamp sets to use, than it did to actually stamp the card 😉
But hey – we all need a quick & easy card sometimes, don’t we? Did you notice that when I took the picture, I ‘posed’ the card with some candy? Goes with the ‘trick or treat’ sentiment 🙂
Now, you need to head over to the Watercooler Challenges blog page, and see the cards the rest of the team made. They’re awesome! There’s even some zentangle designs! Once you’ve been inspired, be sure to link up your own card for the challenge – it’s fun!
Until next time – happy stamping!
Deb what a delightful black on white spooky hillside you’ve created. Love how you’ve used the Sheltering Tree for your focal point and all the little Halloween touches in the background. I also like your cute “trick or treat” staging. Awesome!
Yup – I never thought of Sheltering Tree as spooky, before this card, Penny! 🙂 Thanks so much for visiting & leaving your nice comment.
