Hello again, and welcome to this week’s challenge with the Watercooler Wednesday gang!

This week is Jean’s turn to host, and she chose a very interesting sketch for us:

I decided to turn the sketch on it’s side – what do you think?

Greetings from Santa

I wanted to use the cool reindeer image from the Greetings from Santa stamp set, so this is what I designed!

On a Whisper White card base, I alternated layers of the Presents and Pinecones Designer Series Paper (it’s even the same piece, switching back & forth from one patterned side to the other).  I liked the Cherry Cobbler with the Delightful Dijon.

For the stamped panel, I started with Whisper White cardstock.  I first inked the reindeer image in Versamark ink, then immediately in Cherry Cobbler ink.  I then covered it with Clear Embossing Powder, and set it with the Heat Tool.  I then used the snowflake image stamp from the Perpetual Calendar stamp set, and stamped it repeatedly in Versamark ink across the panel.  I then heat embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder as well.

After the embossing cooled, I used a Sponge Dauber with Delightful Dijon ink and sponged over the snowflakes and reindeer images.  Once I was happy with the colouring, I took a piece of paper towel, and wiped any excess ink off of the embossed images.  This technique is called Emboss Resist.

I also used Sponge Daubers with Real Red and Delightful Dijon inks to sponge the edges of the Designer Series Paper.

I stamped the sentiment, also from the Greetings from Santa set, in Cherry Cobbler ink in the bottom left of the card front, then layered the panels onto the card front.

This was fun to put together, and once I had decided which stamp set & colours to use, it came together quite quickly.  I’d love to hear what you think of this card – just leave me a comment!

I hope you’ll check out the cards created by the rest of the team; just go to the Watercooler Challenges blog, then link up  your card for the challenge!  We’re really enjoying all of the incredible cards that are being linked up.

Until next time – happy stamping!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

  1. Deb, I love the way you alternated the DSP. Great idea! The stamped panel is wonderful. That Perpetual Calendar set really comes in handy, doesn’t it? Love the reindeer. Great job with this sketch challenge.

  2. Deb. I really like this card. The layers behind the reindeer really make him look special and stand out.

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
