If it’s Wednesday, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday challenge!
This week, Libby has a wonderful sketch challenge for you – I really like this layout!
Here is my card; you can see that I stayed true to the sketch layout, I liked it so much:
Last Sunday, I shared the Smackin’ Acetate technique with you; I had made a few of them at the same time, and this is one of the extras I had made. (If you missed that post, you can see it HERE).
I used the re-inkers in Pear Pizzazz, Hello Honey and Island Indigo, and dropped them randomly onto one side of the open envelope. I then used my Spritzer to add water, then I inserted the Whisper White cardstock, closed the envelope, and ‘smooshed’ the ink onto the paper. I repeated this once more, until I was happy with the colours.
Once the background was dry, I inked up the retiring Serene Silhouettes stamp image in Island Indigo ink and stamped directly onto the background. I then used the retiring Ovals Framelits to cut a border.
I took a panel of Crumb Cake cardstock, and added some texture to it by stamping randomly with a few of the texture stamps from the Timeless Textures stamp set, in Crumb Cake ink. I made my card base of Island Indigo cardstock, and glued the Crumb Cake panel on top of it. I then cut 2 strips of cardstock; 1 of Island Indigo and the other of Hello Honey, and again stamped texture onto them using the Timeless Textures set. I then glued them on top of the Crumb Cake panel.
I then glued the outer border directly to the card front, then popped up the stamped image using Stampin’ Dimensionals, in a very ‘muted’ telescoping technique. To finish off the card, I added the 3 retiring Candy Dots in the upper right corner.
I liked the card just as it is, so I decided not to add a sentiment to the front. I can either add one later, or simply stamp a sentiment on the inside of the card.

Before I go, I’d just like to first send out my thoughts and prayers for all those in Fort McMurray, Alberta, who are either fighting this horrific forest fire, or have been evacuated from their homes due to this catastrophe that is taking over the town. My brother, Sherwin, is one of those people lucky enough to get out in time, though he may have lost everything he had to leave behind. Only time will tell, as literally everyone except the firefighters have been evacuated. I hope that everyone stays safe, and that the firefighters are able to get control over the fire.

Another great card Deb. The colours are perfect and I like that smacking acetate technique, it really creates a great background for the silhouette. Speaking of silhouettes, I’m really going to miss the Serene Silhouettes stamp set as it was one of my go-tos for sympathy and birthday cards. On a closing note, thanks for acknowledging all those poor souls including your brother, in Fort McMurray. What devastation yesterday and continuing today. I’m so happy that everyone’s got out and will be housed over in Edmonton. My heart goes out to them.
