Welcome back, stamping friend!  I hope you’re having a great week, and are ready for a new challenge!

This week, the wonderful Gail Allen is our host, and she has set the bar high for us – with a Special Fold Challenge!

That’s right-time to show off your talents!  You choose the colours and the theme – as long as you use a special fold, you’re in!  I cannot wait to see what you create – I’m betting there will be a LOT of incredible cards that I will be adding to my ‘must make’ list 🙂

I stayed with the season, and created this Double Z Fold Card with a Christmas theme:

WWC96 santa's sleigh

Well, I just couldn’t resist!  We have this fabulous Bundle of Santa’s Sleigh stamp set and Santa’s Sleigh Thinlits Dies (save 10% by purchasing the Bundle!) – and I just had to make the reindeer pulling the sleigh 🙂  Not much more iconic for Christmas time, is there?

I used the Thick Whisper White cardstock for my card base, as I knew I was going to have a lot of add-ons.  I stamped the reindeer in Soft Suede ink onto Crumb Cake cardstock.  The trees were stamped in Garden Green onto Pear Pizzazz cardstock; the presents were stamped directly onto some scrap pieces of Presents & Pinecones Designer Series Paper.

For the sleigh, I didn’t do any stamping, but die cut the sleigh from Real Red cardstock, and the overlay from Gold Foil Paper.  The shine in real life is lovely!  Of course, I used the Santa’s Sleigh Thinlits Dies and the Big Shot to die cut the reindeer and trees, as well; Paper Snips made short work of the presents.  Oh – I also stamped some bows onto Real Red cardstock in Real Red ink, and die cut those, as well.  This Thinlits die set has everything you need, and more, to deck out Santa’s sleigh.

Before attaching any of the pieces, I used the snowflake image from Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set and stamped them in Versamark ink.  I then covered them in Clear Embossing Powder, and heat set them with my Heat Tool.  I decided that I wanted to add some sparkle, so I used my Dazzling Details and added some to the snowflakes, as well as the trees.

In this next picture, you can see better the Double Z Fold:

I added a star to the top of 1 one the trees by die cutting it from Daffodil Yellow cardstock, again using the Santa’s Sleigh Thinlits Dies.  I added a Mini Jingle Bell to the first and last reindeer, tieing them on using the Candy Cane Lane Baker’s Twine.

So, I didn’t fit all 8 – or 9- reindeer onto the card; I didn’t want to make it too squishy for them!  We can just pretend that these reindeer are waiting for the others to join them.

To finish off the card, I stamped the sentiment from the Tin of Tags stamp set in Real Red ink, directly onto the card front.  The 2nd panel of the card was left empty, to write a message to the recipient.

I hope you liked my card – I’d love to read any comments you care to leave for me!  Now, I hope you’ll head over to the Watercooler Wednesday blog page, to see the incredible folds the rest of the Watercooler Artists have created – you’ll want to click over to their blogs, to see the full cards when the fancy folds are open!  Even us design team members have to wait!!

Be sure to link up your card for the challenge – I’ll be looking for you!

Until next time – happy stamping!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

  1. What a cute card, Deborah! I love that the reindeer are waiting for the others. I do have to laugh though. You will see why on Friday! It will be one of those great minds thing! 🙂

    1. Thanks, Buffy! It’s like this bundle was made for this fold, don’t you think? 🙂 Nice when life works out that way (easily!)

  2. What a great Z-fold technique and scene you’ve created with your awesome Christmas card Deb. Those reindeer work really well with that card design! Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thanks so much for your comment, Jackie! I thought that this was the perfect set for the Double Z fold (except I’ll have to make an extra large version, to fit in ALL of the reindeer!)

    1. I’m so glad you liked my double z-fold card! I’ll try to figure out how to fit in all the reindeer – it may turn out to be a quadruple z-fold! 🙂

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
