Watercooler Wednesday Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge

It’s time for WWC71 – Heidi’s Tic-Tac-Toe challenge!  These type of challenges can be such fun, when  you’re in a creative mood, and just need a little direction.  Even if you’re not in a creative mood, by choosing the 3 items to use for your card, you’re well on your way.

Here’s the board for you to choose from:

You choose any line – vertical, horizontal or diagonal, and create your card based on the 3 things in your row.  I decided to go straight across the bottom, using Blue, Shaker Card and Die Cut or Punch.  Here’s what I created:

If you’ve been following my blog, you’ll know that my youngest son’s high school graduation has been very much on my mind, and in my calendar!  So, I needed to make him a card – and here it is! (Don’t worry – he doesn’t follow my blog!)

I started by stamping the easel from the Painter’s Palette set in Dapper Denim, directly onto the Whisper White cardstock.  I then used the Squares Framelits to cut out the centre of the frame.  I attached a piece of Window Sheet over the opening, and added strips of our wonderful new Foam Adhesive Strips (finally – we’ve been wanting these for-ever!) around the frame.  After stamping the sentiment – from a very old, retired SU! stamp set – in Emerald Envy on a backing piece of Whisper White, I added the silver star sequins from our Metallic Sequins, and some round green sequins left over from a kit, last Christmas.  I then placed the stamped piece with the Window Sheet over the sentiment piece (with the sequins on top of the stamping), so that I could place my sentiment in the centre, and it was done!  That’s the fastest shaker card I have ever made!

On the front, I added some stars, using the Perpetual Calendar stamp set.  I first inked my stamp with Versamark ink, the inked it with Dapper Denim ink, added Clear Embossing Powder, and heat set it.  I then added more of the silver star sequins onto the front.  Notice the little grad cap, perched on the edge of the easel?

I stamped just the cap onto a scrap of Whisper White, cut it out using my Snips, and attached it with a Stampin’ Dimensional.  Here’s a picture of the inside of the card – you can see where the cap came from:

More inked stars, more sequins – well, it’s a big accomplishment, right?!  I hope my son will like it; I had fun making it!
