Welcome, Baby!

Last month, our family had a very special addition – my niece, who is my brother’s eldest daughter – had a beautiful baby girl! This special card is to say Welcome, Baby to my beautiful ‘great niece’ (is that even a title? niece once removed?) Ophelia Grace!

Welcome, Baby!

The Large Letter Framelits make it easy to create this eclipse card.

I really liked the floating hearts pattern on this retired Falling in Love Designer Series Paper, so I used it! Creating the ‘eclipse’ is easy; lay out the letters on your DSP while it’s on the Big Shot cutting platform. Use either the Magnetic Platform to hold the letters in place, or use washi or another repositionable tape.

To have the letters raised quite a bit, I die cut an extra 3 sets of letters, and glued them to the back of each, with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Attach the die cut DSP to the Soft Sky cardstock panel with the liquid glue, then replace the letters in the openings with Foam Adhesive Strips. You can use Stampin’ Dimensionals, but I like how the Strips keep an level height through the whole length of each letter. Now layer your panel onto a card base of Blushing Bride cardstock.

Stamp the sentiment from the Baby Bear stamp set in Blushing Bride ink, onto Very Vanilla cardstock. Use the Banner Triple Punch to create tails on each end, and attach it to the front with Dimensionals.

Welcome, Baby!

The inside of this card is just as important as the outside-after all, it’s welcoming a new member of the family!

Welcome, Baby!

I again used the Baby Bear stamp set – it’s just too cute! And the sentiments are the best, too. The bear is a 3 step stamp; I used Powder Pink, Blushing Bride and Sweet Sugarplum ink pads. The sentiment is stamped with Blushing Bride ink.  After stamping the bear, I attached one of the 2017-2019 In Color Bitty Bows – in Blushing Bride.  Because I was mailing the card along with gifts, in a box, I didn’t worry about this card being too thick, or needing extra postage.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

    1. I like your title of Greatest Aunt, Susan! I’m sure you are just that! 🙂 Glad you liked my baby card.

  1. What a sweet card, and I love your idea of layering the letters so they stand out more. Congrats on being a Great Aunt! (Sometimes I tell my great-nephew, “Beth is your aunt, but I’m your GREAT aunt!!” Although she’s pretty awesome as well.)

    1. Thanks for such a kind comment on my baby card, Buffy! I’m always extra nervous about cards for family… 🙂

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
