This week for the Paper Craft Crew we have a Welcome Home inspiration challenge! This is appropriate for this time of year, as a lot of people are traveling , or getting ready to,for the holidays. Whether going to your childhood home, or welcoming friends and family into your own home. It’s that time of year!
WELCOME HOME INSPIRATION CHALLENGE
Here’s a photo for the inspiration. You can use the title, the doorway, the fall theme – whatever strikes a chord with you.
The choice of stamp set, colours and embellishments is all up to you, as is the layout. Have fun! I’m looking forward to seeing what you create.
COZY COTTAGE
It took a little bit for me to figure out what to do for this challenge. But, I did what I always do – start by going through my stamp sets, waiting for inspiration! Fitting, right? I found this older set from Stampin’ Up! called Cozy Cottage. I would love to be inside this little cottage, tucked away in nature. Sipping on a hot beverage, curled up with a good book, preferably.
Doesn’t that look nice? Looks like a spring or summer day – blue sky, and green grass.
CARD DETAILS
I had originally thought to watercolour the image, but changed my mind after stamping it onto watercolour paper. So – choose your image panel depending on what medium you’ll be using to colour. Although I stamped in Nocturne ink onto watercolour paper, I am still able to use my pencils for colouring.
This image is perfect for colouring in paints, markers, pencils – whatever takes your fancy! I chose my Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. The sentiment is from the same Cozy Cottage stamp set; the ‘welcome’ is one stamp. For the word ‘home’, I masked off the rest of the words on that stamp, and inked up just the word home. Remove the masking before stamping – or you’ll end up with a mess! (I’ve learned that lesson a while ago).
To finish off the card, the image is layered with fun foam onto a dark green panel, and then onto a lighter green card base.
This could be a nice card for someone who has just bought a new home!

I love the cozy little cottage. You always do such a great job coloring.
Thanks, Susan! I do love ‘scenic’ stamps 🙂
This looks so cozy, Deborah! I agree – a hot drink (or a cold one!!) with a book would be perfect in there. It’s a beautiful scene, and your coloring is awesome, whether or not you used the right medium! 🙂
Thanks for your kind comment, Buffy! Maybe one day I’ll win the lottery & own a little cottage like this for get-aways! 🙂
