Welcome to Fall! I always know when fall starts, because it’s always right around my birthday. Well, it happened before my birthday this year, because today I’m celebrating another trip around the sun! I didn’t get my vacation to Ukraine and Paris this year (hopefully next year?), so I’ll have to be satisfied with this. Thanks to everyone who’s been sending me wonderful messages – I appreciate every one of them 🙂 Today’s card is created using one of the stamps that my friend Mari gave me for my birthday – let’s have a look.
I Googled the peacock stamp, and found out that the maker is Inkadinkado. The elegant stance of the bird is just perfect for showing off the long tail feathers.
I would love to dress all in these colours – they’re my favourites!
I had bought some slimline dies from Studio Katia a while ago, but this is the first time I’ve used them! They provide the perfect length for this long peacock image. I’d hate to cut off any of those gorgeous feathers.
Start by using the Dotted Slimline Dies – Set 2 from Studio Katia. Use the scallop die to die cut a piece of watercolour paper. Now, set this up in your MISTI or other stamp platform, with the peacock stamp. Use Zig Clean Colour Brush Markers in 032 Persian Blue, 041 Light Green and 080 Violet to add the colours to the stamp. Next, lightly mist the stamp with water, and press down onto the watercolour paper. I use Arches 140 lb. Hot Press paper; I like the way it absorbs the water and ink. There was a little too much water on the furthest tail feathers; just blot that up with a paper towel. I didn’t mind the soft faded look that resulted; it gives an illusion of some movement in the feathers.
Next, line up the sentiment from the Penny Black Sentiment Collection of stamps. First stamp in a bright blue ink, and then again in Versamark ink. Cover the stamped sentiment in Clear embossing powder, and set with a heat tool.
LAYER IT UP
To add more colour and layers, attach the watercolour card front to a piece of dark green cardstock, using a fun foam layer or foam tape. Next, glue these layers onto a bright blue card base. Add some shine to the card front by gluing on some Starry Sky Mix rhinestones, also from Studio Katia.
I’m looking forward to making lots of cards with this peacock!
The maker of the peacock stamp is not any of my affiliates, but you may be able to find it where you live, or on eBay. I just love the image – peacocks look so regal, don’t they?! I hope that you have a great day, today, as you welcome fall! I’m looking forward to a day spent with a good friend (who’s in my ‘bubble’) and family. Thanks for spending some of your time with me today!
