The theme for this month in our Brusho Fun group is ‘support’. Which made me think of the Beatles’ song, With a Little Help from My Friends! My friends have definitely helped me get through the last couple of years, with lockdowns, isolation and boredom. Even if it was mostly by telephone, text and meme sharing! On the other hand, there’s a special kind of support and friendship that we get from our pets, or as I call them, our fur babies. Although he’s been gone for 5 years now, I miss Shadow, our black Lab, every day.
INSPIRED BY A STAMP
One of my favourite stamps, that shows this special bond, is by Dina Kowal from Impression Obsession. It’s called My Best Friend – you can see it HERE. I did a sketch of the image, with minor changes, onto my Stonehenge Aqua Cold Press paper block. Then, I went over the image with my Micron pens, then allowed the ink to dry. Once I was sure the ink wouldn’t smudge, I did a loose wash with my Brusho Crystal Colours.
The idea was to keep it loose, and ‘sketchy’ – a line and wash, the technique is called. I really struggle with loose painting, but this is not too bad!
Here’s another look, with a black mat over the image.
This painting is just for my own practice, and to share in the Brusho Fun Group. If you love painting with Brusho, you should join us! We have the monthly theme challenge, as well as weekly inspiration photos to kick start your creative process each week. You can find the group HERE – please be sure to answer the few questions to join, so we know you’re a real person!
Have a great week – and be creative!
This is so sweet, Deborah! You did a great job!!
