Welcome to another Watercooler Wednesday challenge!
This week, it’s Kath’s turn to host, and she has chosen a terrific sketch for us :
Here is my design:
I thought this sketch was a great way to show off the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper, and I added the goose and grass from the Wetlands stamp set.
I took my colour cues from the DSP, starting with a card base of Island Indigo cardstock. Before cutting the panel of DSP, I stamped the grasses directly onto it in Crumb Cake ink; then I cut the panels and glued them on to the panel of Soft Sky cardstock using Tombow liquid glue.
I used the 2″ Circle Punch to create the Whisper White circle, and stamped the goose image in Basic Gray Archival ink. I stamped the goose again onto another piece of white, and coloured each goose using Blender Pens and Old Olive, Crumb Cake and Smoky Slate ink pads. I hand cut out the goose from the separate piece of white, and created a bit more dimension to the body by using my Simply Scored Stylus on the back side of it, then attached it using Stampin’ Dimensionals over the stamped body of the goose.
This close up pictures show a bit more of the layering:
I then used the retired 2 1/2″ Circle Punch to create the Island Indigo circle, and layered it behind the goose image, then attached them both to the card front. I decided to leave off a sentiment for now, as I’m not sure whether I may use this card as a birthday, thank you, or thinking of you card.
I hope you’ll check out the cards made by the rest of the Watercooler Artists HERE, then link up your own card for the challenge. You just may be our next Top Pick!
Until next time – happy stamping,
This is such a great card Deb with some of my favourite DSP this season and an older stamp set that just keeps on giving. I really like how you took the primary colours for your card base and layers from the dsp and how you stamped the reeds right into the sand colour on that paper. Your goose stretching out of the center circle is really a nice element too!
Thanks for your nice comments, Penny! I do still love the Wetlands stamp set, and the Serene Scenery DSP makes such a quick card 🙂
Love your card, it makes me feel so peaceful I can almost imagine I’m there
I’m so glad that you liked my card for the Watercooler Wednesday challenge, Peg. The Serene Scenery DSP is so easy to use to create a great background. I appreciate your kind comment! 🙂
