You Can Never Have Enough Birthday Cards!

YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH BIRTHDAY CARDS!

It’s true, isn’t it? That you can never have enough birthday cards on hand, for when you need one. I’m sure I”m not the only one who has had that brain fart that causes you to not prepare in advance for someone’s birthday. Scrambling at the last minute is not pretty! It’s much better to have cards ready in advance, so you can just choose an appropriate for the recipient, sign it, and send it off. No sweat, no worries! So I guess you’ve figured out what I’m sharing with  you today *wink* Yup – another birthday card.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Having birthday cards that are ‘gender neutral’ is a blessing! Because you don’t want to have to explain to your cousin Steve why he’s receiving a pink rose covered card, or your Aunt Shirley why she’s got a motorbike on the front (unless of course they like those things. then you’re golden!).  Going through my SU! stash again, I was able to put this card together.

This is another of the cards that this weekend’s class will be making. They’re new stampers, and I’m finding that most of my newer stamps require a lot of colouring and/or detail work. So, not too good for new stampers, or people who aren’t comfortable with colouring mediums. So, I fell back on this Stampin’ Up! set. It has great large sentiments, die cuts and coordinating patterned paper.

CARD FRONT DETAILS

First, get the panels all sized out and cut. That’s the best starting point. Next, stamp the sentiment, which is actually 2 stamps, onto the panel of white cardstock. I used Lemon Lime Twist ink for the top, and Lovely Lipstick ink for the ‘wish’. Both are SU! dye inks. Next, stamp the diamond pattern around the sentiment, in the Lemon Lime Twist ink.

Use the coordinating dies, and die cut 2 of the party hats from the patterned paper. Attach them above the sentiment with foam squares.

LAYER THE PANELS

Start with a neutral card base. I used a light gray to coordinate with the gray in the hats. Next, add a panel of the Lovely Lipstick cardstock. Layer the panel of patterned paper on top of the Lemon Lime Twist cardstock panel with foam tape or squares, and glue it onto the front panel. Next, attach the sentiment panel with foam tape/squares onto another panel of L.L.Twist cardstock, and add it onto the card front.

This is that unicorn of cards – quick & easy, yet the layers add a punch! Also, it’s gender neutral. The colours, layout and images can be for a male or female. And it was fun to make!
